First revealed during BlizzCon 2023, information on the Diablo 4 DLC was limited but that changed at the Xbox Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2024—where we finally got more details and a release date.

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred will be released on Oct. 8, 2024. If that isn’t precise enough for you, we’ve got a dedicated countdown that ticks away to the very minute you can enjoy the new content.

The drop of Vessel of Hatred comes in a significant month for Activision Blizzard and Xbox, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releasing just a few weeks after the Diablo 4 DLC goes live, resulting in a feast for gamers.

Who is the main villain in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred?

Mephisto is the main villain in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, something that was already heavily rumored and finally confirmed with the cinematic trailer for the DLC—and it ties directly into the ending of the main Diablo 4 story.

At the end of Diablo 4, Neyrelle left the continent on a boat with Mephisto locked away in a crystal, but it’s pretty clear that it wasn’t enough to keep the Lord of Hatred imprisoned with the being escaping to a new jungle region called Torajan.

Will there be new mechanics in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred?

The biggest introduction to Diablo 4 in the Vessel of Hatred is a new class, the Spiritborn, which is entirely new to the franchise. Full details are yet to be confirmed but a full reveal will take place on July 18.

Additional classes will also receive updates, as they do with every seasonal refresh, while we can also expect to see new armor, weapons, enemy types, and plenty more.
