Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, is set to launch on Oct. 8. While the expansion and its announcement trailer was the highlight of the BlizzCon 2023, it was the release date announcement trailer during the Xbox showcase at the 2024 Summer Games Fest that stole the show.

Everything new in Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred
In Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred release date announcement trailer, which aired on July 9, and the official Blizzard Vessel of Hatred expansion webpage, various new features are coming in the upcoming expansion, including:
- A continued campaign and storyline: Mephisto—one of the Prime Evils—and Neyrelle will be the core focus of this storyline. In this campaign, your search for Neyrelle takes you deep into an ancient jungle to uncover Mephisto’s agenda and end his corruption. However, the jungle is filled with new enemies that are plotting your death.
- A new region: Nahantu: Nahantu is the region you will have access to in this expansion. There will be even more dungeons, delves, and strongholds for you to explore and liberate.
- A new class—Spiritborn: The Spiritborn is the apex predator of the jungle. Its battle styles and synergies are tied to the jungle, and it’s an all-new class to the Diablo franchise.
- Mercenaries: You can recruit mercenaries to help you on your quests and fight alongside you; each of these will have unique abilities and combat styles.
- Co-op end-game activity: You’ll be able to join with friends to take on a new, multi-faceted dungeon with more challenges and greater riches, and like the new class, this is the first of its kind in Diablo.
- Pets: If you preorder the expansion, you can instantly unlock a pet that will accompany you on your journey and pick up gold and items for you.
- General updates: Each class will receive new skills, added Paragon Boards, Legendary Gyphs, new types of dungeons, and more Tree of Whispers activities.
Although we’ll likely learn more about the Vessel of Hatred over the following months, this is everything new coming to Diablo 4 in the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
