Diablo 4, just like any other game on the market, has a wide variety of classes and types of damage you can do. While Physical, Fire, and Poison types of damage are straightforward, Overpower Damage is quite confusing.
In Diablo 4, you can find bonus Overpower Damage on various weapon affixes, gems, and Legendary Aspects. Although it can be quite demanding to stack up these items, the true challenge is fully understanding them and learning to wield and control them. Some classes adore Overpower Damage and have no trouble proccing it when you tick some boxes.

What is Overpower Damage?
Marked by the light-blue damage numbers, Overpower Damage is a type of damage in Diablo 4 that deals additional damage depending on your current Life and your Fortified Life. Normally, Overpower Damage has a three percent chance to proc and it’s not limited to a specific class, although Barbarians, Necromancers, and Druids love this type of damage more than anything.
When you’re slaughtering demons in Sanctuary and Overpower damage procs, you can easily recognize it by the color of those nice big numbers on your screen. While white damage numbers mean regular damage, light-blue numbers mean you’re dealing Overpower Damage, and orange numbers mean you’re obliterating the enemy with Overpower Damage Critical Strikes. I found the added effect to be very satisfying when dishing out high amounts of damage.
For example, I often use Crushing Elixirs to add 20 percent Overpower Damage as well as five percent extra experience for 30 minutes. To add to that, I throw a Crude Ruby in my weapons to deal an additional 12 percent Overpower Damage. I found it to be an excellent way to churn through dungeons.

The Overpower Damage numbers players deal scale with Life and Fortify stats, so the higher those stats are, the more Overpower Damage you’ll do. While most skills have the chance to deal Overpower Damage, passive abilities, damage-over-time, and channeled skills cannot deal this type of damage.
Best Overpower Damage classes
The classes which have the easiest time proccing Overpower Damage are Barbarian, Druid, and Necromancer. The main reason is that these classes can opt for talents in their builds that will increase the value of Overpower Damage. Here’s the list of their abilities that can be empowered with Overpower Damage:

- Hammer of the Ancients with the Violent Hammer of the Ancients ability

- Gushing Wounds
Druid
- Pulverize with the Enhanced Pulverize and Raging Pulverize abilities

Necromancer
- Blood Surge with the Paranormal Blood Surge ability

How to get more Overpower Damage
If you have big Overpower Damage numbers flashing on your screen, you can increase your chance of proccing it by getting your hands on different weapon and gear affixes, gems, and Legendary Aspects. This is, naturally, available to all classes in Diablo 4, but it will take a bit of hard work and farming before you can see the results.
