While some of the fights seem easy, a few boss fights are ridiculously complicated. Naturally, players are wondering how to change the difficulty levels in the game. These are known as World Tiers in Diablo 4. There are four different difficulty levels to choose from, and a couple of them are unlocked in the later phases of the game.

Here are all the World Tiers and how to change them in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 has four World Tiers, which signifies four levels of difficulty. The first two Tiers are available from the start, while you need to unlock World Tiers 3 and 4 by progressing in the game.

  • World Tier 1 Adventurer
    • World Tier 1 Adventurer is for players who are new to Diablo and want a story-level difficulty mode. This is by far the easiest difficulty in the game, with enemies having low stats.
  • World Tier 2 Veteran
    • World Tier 2 Veteran is designed for players who want a tougher challenge, and this difficulty mode comes with several bonuses. In this mode, Monsters give 15% more gold and yield 20% increased experience. We recommend playing in World Tier 2 until you reach level 50.
  • World Tier 3 Nightmare
    • World Tier 3 Nightmare is where things start getting stressful in Diablo 4. Nightmare becomes available after you reach Level 50 and complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone dungeon at Kyovashad in World Tier 2. On Nightmare difficulty, sacred and unique items have a chance of dropping from enemies. Champion monsters with damage resistance auras appear in the game. Likewise, you’ll come across Helltides, and Nightmare Sigils can drop the unseal Nightmare dungeons. The enemies in Nightmares are much more powerful, and they overcome 20% resistance. The best part about this difficulty level is that you’ll get 100% increased experience and 15% more gold.
  • World Tier 4 Torment
    • World Tier 4 Torment is the most painfully engaging difficulty mode in Diablo 4. This difficulty level is designed to test the player at every step, as enemies are the strongest in Torment. Every boss fight you come across will be harder than anything faced in previous difficulties. You can unlock World Tier 4 by completing the Fallen Temple Capstone dungeon at Dry Stepped in World Tier 3 Nightmare. In this difficulty mode, you’ll get a chance to acquire Ancestral and new Unique items. Enemies overcome over 40% resistance, and defeating them will give 200% increased experience. Likewise, Monsters will also drop 15% more gold.

How to select World Tiers in Diablo 4

You can select the World Tier before entering the game in the character selection screen. Keep in mind that if you are new to the genre, then it’s best to experience the game in World Tier 1 Adventurer mode. Although if you are playing with friends, then it is best to select the World Tier 2 Veteran mode to get the extra bonus. No in-game menu options allow you to change World Tiers while playing the game. However, there is a way to change it without leaving your playthrough.

Can you change World Tiers without leaving the game in Diablo 4?

Yes, you can change World Tiers without exiting to the character selection screen in Diablo 4. For this, you will need to visit the World Tier Statue located in the northern region of Kyovashad. Check the image above to see how a World Tier Statue looks on the map.
