Undercurrent god roll and best perks in Destiny 2

It's coming for Forbearance's throne.

It’s no secret Wave Frame Grenade Launchers are among Destiny 2‘s strongest available special weapons. Even amid an archetype so universally strong are clear outliers like Forbearance, but Undercurrent looks to be on par, if not stronger.

Undercurrent is an Arc Wave Frame, but unlike Forbearance, it has the added advantage of releasing after Arc 3.0’s launch in Season of Plunder. Chain Reaction has been replaced with Voltshot, Demolitionist has been added to the third column and even Bait and Switch makes a return.

Undercurrent’s god rolls are plentiful, catering to any particular niche a player might want to fill with their Wave Frame of choice. It’s also going to be a lot easier for players to get their hands on, with Forbearance stuck behind RNG drops in the Vow of the Disciple raid.

There are many great picks for Undercurrent in PvE. Given Forebearance’s Chain Reaction nerf in The Final Shape, the new AoE add clear option will certainly be Voltshot, which combos better with Arc subclasses anyway. Combine this with Stats For All for a speedy reload to get that next shot off faster after hitting multiple enemies.

Demolitionist doesn’t work well with Voltshot as you only receive the Jolt benefit after manually reloading the weapon, but it can work great for killing major enemies or Champions with Bait and Switch. It works best with a machine gun as your heavy but proc’ing Bait and Switch isn’t too difficult and significantly boosts the weapon’s damage output.

Demolitionist also combos brilliantly with Adrenaline Junkie, while even Eddy Current has its place with certain Arc builds that can make you Amplified and ensure you can reload Undercurrent quickly.

It goes to say Undercurrent isn’t our first pick for a Special weapon in Destiny 2‘s PvP, but if you’re willing, try out Eddy Current and High Ground. Jumping above enemies and launching the wave frame below you will almost land a one-shot kill on enemies, plus a reload boost while sprinting also helps (as long as you’ve got ammo).

Also consider Demolitionist in the first column for that sweet grenade recharge, especially if it takes you a while to gain Special ammo drops in PvP.

How to get Undercurrent in Destiny 2

Undercurrent is a Nightfall weapon, which means it drops exclusively from Nightfall Strikes. Unlike the Vanguard weapons that can drop from any Vanguard Ops activity, Nightfall weapons are on a weekly rotation, so you’ll need to grind the Nightfall playlist while Undercurrent is the currently available reward to get it.

Fortunately for players, after you’ve earned it at least once and the weapon has been unlocked in your Collections, additional rolls of Undercurrent can be focused at any time through Commander Zavala in the Tower.

It’s a steep asking price of five Vanguard Engrams to focus even one drop, so make sure you stock up on mats before chasing down a god roll this way.
