Destiny 2’s annual Solstice event has returned for 2023, and while not a lot has changed since it was painted over with a new look last year, the limited-time loot available during its runtime is still just as worth the chase.
The Compass Rose shotgun specifically has been in the Solstice loot pool for multiple years now and even got a refresh to its loot pool last year to include some of the hottest perks on the market like Incandescent and Trench Barrel. Guardians are spoiled for choice when it comes to Solar shotguns in this day and age, but the exclusivity of Compass Rose and the rich rolls that are available means it’s still a gun in high demand, even now.
Whether it’s your first time experiencing Solstice or you’re looking for a better roll of Compass Rose than the one you managed to nab last year, here’s how to get your hands on this Solar shotgun during the event.
How to get Compass Rose in Destiny 2’s Solstice event
The Compass Rose shotgun is a random potential reward from the Bonfire Bash activity during Destiny 2’s Solstice event. Upon completion of the activity, any one of the Solstice weapons—which includes Compass Rose, Something New and Crowning Duologue—can drop at the chest beside the bonfire.
This does mean you’ll be relying on luck to get your hands on this gun with any amount of consistency, but if you enter the EAZ a lot during the Solstice event’s three-week runtime, you’re bound to end up with a variety of Compass Rose rolls.
If luck isn’t on your side, there are additional avenues. Every week, Eva Levante offers a tier-one powerful reward for finishing eight bounties and the Bonfire Bash has a weekly pinnacle for defeating combatants in the EAZ. Both of these drops can be one of the three Solstice weapons, meaning you could earn Compass Rose via this route too.
You will only be able to acquire Compass Rose while the Solstice event is active in Destiny 2. This means there is only a short window to get the roll you really desire before the opportunity goes away again.

This year, Solstice will close on Aug 8, so be sure to hop on Destiny before then and grind out Bonfire Bash runs if you want to add Compass Rose to your arsenal.
