Dead by Daylight is available on various platforms, and if you own it on more than one, you likely want to know whether there’s cross-progression between them.
Cross-platform progression allows you to play a game on one platform and pick up where you left off on another. DBD historically didn’t have this feature, but that changed on July 22.
Does DBD have cross-platform progression?
Developer Behaviour Interactive added cross-platform progression to Dead by Daylight on July 22, 2024, but it has some minor restrictions.
On PS5, PS4, Steam, Epic Games, and Microsoft PC, there’s shared progression, inventory paid currency, and DLC. On Nintendo Switch, there’s shared progression and inventory but not shared paid currency or DLC—but you can share from other platforms to Switch.
In other words, you can happily share progression and inventory between all platforms, but if you switch from PlayStation to Switch, for example, you won’t get access to your paid currency, and vice versa. If you buy DLC on PlayStation, you can access it on Switch, but if you buy it on Switch, you can’t access it on the PlayStation.
While these restrictions are a pain for Switch owners, your DBD content is available across several platforms, so you can pick up and play where you please.
You can still set the feature up if you already play on different platforms and want to use cross-progression. The game automatically carries over the highest-level characters and items (bar platform exclusive items) from across your platforms. So, for example, if your Nia is level 50 on Xbox Series X, level 20 on PC, but level 30 on PS5, your Nia will be level 50 on all the platforms with cross-progression enabled.
Your currency is also combined (except on Switch). So if you have 500 Auric Cells on PC and 300 on PS5, your synced account will have 800 Auric Cells. Iridescent Shards, Bloodpoints, and Rift Fragments are also shared across all synced platforms.
If you’ve purchased the same DLC on two platforms, however, and plan to sync the accounts these are linked to, you will receive 4,500 Iridescent Shards rather than a refund. These Shards won’t be issued until Oct. 22.
