Report: Cloud9’s Tarik discussing move to MIBR

This would be the second Cloud9 player the organization has acquired.

The reigning Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Valve Major champions could be set to lose another player to the team formerly known as SK Gaming.

DBLTAP reports that MIBR is interested in acquiring Tarik “tarik” Celik from Cloud9. The Brazilian team reportedly reached out to Cloud9 after failing to advance past the group stage of ESL One Cologne, one of the team’s worst performances throughout 2018.

Similarly, Cloud9 were also unable to reach the playoffs of the $300,000 event, which it attended with Martin “STYKO” Styk as a stand-in. He filled in for Pujan “FNS” Mehta, who remains on the bench after being dropped in May.

Should tarik be acquired, he will join former Cloud9 teammate Jacky “Stewie2k” Yip on the primarily Brazilian roster. It would also leave Cloud9 with only a three-man roster, meaning the team would have to undergo the unenviable task of acquiring two new players ahead of the FaceIt London Valve Major in September.

This also means that Cloud9 can’t make any further roster changes until after the next Major. The core of Will “RUSH” Wierzba, Timothy “autimatic” Ta, and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham would be the only remaining players on the roster that won the ELEAGUE Major on Jan. 28.

If tarik is brought onto MIBR, DBLTAP reports he will replace Ricardo “boltz” Prass. Boltz has previously played with several players on the MIBR roster under the banners of Luminosity and SK Gaming. The team’s lack of results have seemingly put them in a position where they believe change is required ahead of the next big test.

Neither side has commented on the possibility of the move. Dot Esports has reached out to MIBR for comment.
