Immortals has apparently set a steep buyout for three of its benched Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players.
The organization has reportedly told investors and teams interested in Lincoln “fnx” Lau, Henrique “Hen1” Teles, and Lucas “Lucas1” Teles that the buyout for the trio is set at $1 million, according to HLTV.
The high price is most likely due to the fact that both Hen1 and Lucas1 have expressed their desire to compete alongside former Immortals AWPer Vito “kNg” Giuseppe on a new roster—which would mean that Immortals’ legend-status at the upcoming ELEAGUE Boston Major would be transferred to their new team, as it would feature a majority of the the Immortals roster that reached the grand final of the latest Valve Major.
Although the figure for the trio has been reported to be set at $1 million on various news sites, the total sum for the trio may also be set at a considerably less $600,000, according to former Slingshot Esports contributor Jared “DeKay” Lewis.
The deadline for any roster wishing to maintain their legend-status is Nov. 10—meaning buyers interested in the trio only have one week to secure a deal before it elapses. This development comes roughly two months after Immortals elected to remove its former AWPer “kNg” from its roster, as well as benching both Hen1 and Lucas1.
Although the Brazilian CS:GO roster was able to reach the grand finals of the PGL Kraków Major on July 23, the roster subsequently disintegrated in an incredibly strange set of circumstances. While attending DreamHack Montreal on Sept. 10, kNg threatened to physically assault Counter Logic Gaming in-game leader Pujan “FNS” Mehta, after FNS joked about several players being hungover during the final day of the event. KNg repeatedly refused to apologize for his outburst, and was allegedly even scouring the hotel the competitors were staying at, in search of FNS—who vacated the premises for his own safety.
The AWPer was subsequently benched for his behavior, and was not allowed to compete in any competitive games for the entire month of September. Only two days after kNg was removed from the organization, both Hen1 and Lucas1 were also benched—after allegedly enticing kNg to compete with them in an online match, despite being prohibited to do so.
Shortly after kNg’s suspension, both Hen1 and Lucas1 expressed their desire to leave the organization—after spending close to two years competing for the brand. Since then, the three players have looked at joining forces with kNg, as well as Team One’s Bruno “bit” Lima, on a new roster.
With the added pressure of time on the trio’s side, it remains to be seen whether we see them competing at the upcoming Valve Major on Jan. 19.
