The five-time CS:GO Major champion will have big shoes to fill as he’ll replace cadiaN, who was Heroic’s in-game leader and the face of the whole project. It’s unclear if dupreeh will take on the captaincy duties that belonged to cadiaN or if it will be someone like Martin “stavn” Lund, the secondary caller during cadiaN’s stint.

Though dupreeh is an obvious pick for Heroic, given everything he achieved in his career and because he is Danish too, it will be rather weird to see him wearing Heroic’s colors.

The 30-year-old made a name for himself during his Astralis years between 2016 and 2021 when he showed the world he was one of the best entry-fraggers in CS:GO and helped Astralis win four Major championships next to gla1ve, dev1ce, Xyp9x, Magisk, and Kjaerbye once.

Dupreeh is the only player who won five Major championships in CS:GO as he nabbed the trophy of the BLAST Paris Major in May before Vitality benched him. Despite accomplishing so much in the previous game, dupreeh made it clear that he wasn’t done.

“I still feel I am on the top of my game and will spend my time figuring out what’s up next,” dupreeh wrote when Vitality benched him for the arrival of Shahar “flameZ” Shushan in June. “Would love to win my sixth Major in my hometown [Copenhagen] next year, but winning a Major is not easy. I would need to find a team and an organization, who share my ambition, professionalism and willingness to sacrifice to achieve a common goal.”

Before signing with Heroic, dupreeh most notably was in talks to join TSM, but the deal ended up not materializing. For now, Heroic said dupreeh is joining until the end of 2023, but that could change if he helps them get back to the top of the scene.
