The final three teams that will compete at the Major League Gaming North American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major next month have been decided.
Rounding out the lineup for North America’s first ever major event are two North American teams Counter Logic Gaming and Cloud9, as well as Ukrainian squad Flipsid3 Tactics. After three best-of-three series the teams will join 15 other squads in Columbus next month.
The North American major sees the most NA teams to ever compete at a major, with four rosters set to play. Yesterday saw North American sides Splyce and Team Liquid qualify, while Counter Logic Gaming and Cloud9 qualified today.
Flipsid3 was the first team to qualify today, taking down Brazilian squad Tempo Storm early this morning. Flipsid3 dominated the Brazilians on both the Train and Cache maps with the final results for both matches being 16-5.
Counter Logic Gaming took down Polish team Vexed Gaming shortly after, in the only series to go to three games today. They skidded by in close matches on Dust 2 and Train, while losing 3-16 on Cobblestone to Vexed. But since they took two maps, they won the series and qualified for the major.
The final series of the day met Cloud9 with Australian side Renegades, who moved to North America several months ago in the hopes to improve overall. This series was easily the best of the day, with both teams cutting it close. Cloud9 was the victor in a 2-0 matchup, after winning a close match on Mirage and in overtime on Cache.
Flipsid3, Counter Logic Gaming, and Cloud9 will join 15 other teams on March 29 at the Nationwide Arena. These teams include Fnatic, Team EnVyUs, Astralis, Virtus.Pro, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, FaZe Clan, Luminosity Gaming, Gambit Gaming, G2 Esports, mousesports, Splyce, and Team Liquid.
