Summer is coming to a close, which means a few things. The weather will soon be getting cooler, the sun will be going down earlier in the evening, and a new Call of Duty is on the way.

Like clockwork, a new CoD drops every fall, and 2023 continues that trend. Although it’s already August, the new CoD has yet to be revealed. But that will be changing soon thanks to an in-game event in Warzone.

On Aug. 7, Activision confirmed the new game will be none other than Modern Warfare 3, a direct sequel to 2022’s MW2. That’s right, Captain Price and his pals will be back very soon.

Here’s everything we know about the MW3 reveal in Warzone.

When is the MW3 reveal event?

On Aug. 8, Activision confirmed the MW3 reveal will take place on Aug. 17 via an in-game event in Warzone. The next day, the company confirmed it will begin at 12:30pm CT. The playable event will be called Operation: Shadow Siege.

“Join the ranks of Shadow Company, take on Konni forces, secure chemical weapons before it’s too late, and receive numerous rewards,” Activision said. “Additionally expect to view the full reveal of Modern Warfare 3. Complete additional objectives in Operation: Shadow Siege to claim further items, such as a new base weapon, all immediately available in Warzone and MW2.”

The image in the leak showed a banner that says “Don’t miss the worldwide reveal of Modern Warfare III August 17 in Warzone,” posted by data miner HeyImAlaix on Twitter and re-posted by CharlieIntel.

Other leaks have revealed some potential details about MW3, including a Verdansk-like map for Warzone and the return of slide canceling, a popular yet controversial mechanic from MW 2019.

The playable event in Warzone is still shrouded in mystery, but previous events in Warzone were used to unveil a new title, like 2020’s playable event that announced Black Ops Cold War.

“Assemble a four-person fireteam and be ready to drop into Call of Duty: Warzone starting at 9:30 AM PT on Thursday, August 17,” Activision said. “Double XP begins at this time, shortly before the commencement of the Shadow Siege Limited Time Event, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM PT. The exact operation is shrouded in secrecy, but intel interceptions from Graves seem to indicate the battle you should prepare for.”

The event will likely feature players teaming up to fight against Konni forces, with the gameplay section culminating in a reveal trailer for MW3.

Rewards for completing the event include the new M13C assault rifle, an emblem, a tier skip, a calling card, a vehicle skin, and a weapon charm.

Activision confirmed on Aug. 7 that MW3 will release on Nov. 10, just a few months after the reveal event in Warzone.

Leakers have also said that the game will have two beta weekends in October. The first beta will reportedly be available on PlayStation and run from Oct. 6 to 10, while the second will be available on all platforms from Oct. 12 to 16.
