Call of Duty: Warzone fans continue to thirst for the nostalgia of maps and memories past, and that includes Resurgence. As a result, battle royale players are dying to know when Rebirth Island is returning to Warzone.
The small-scale map is set in an alternate version of San Francisco’s Alcatraz Island. It’s home to the respawn-based Resurgence mode, which rewards players with the ability to spawn back in after being defeated as long as their teammates remain active and alive.
Rebirth Island disappeared from the original Warzone when it became Warzone Caldera and hasn’t been seen since it did not return in Modern Warfare 2’s Warzone iteration. Warzone 2.0, and now the unofficial Warzone 3 (officially known as just “Warzone,” please make up your minds, Activision), has since added Vondel and Ashika Island as Resurgence maps. Now, the original one is coming home… but not just yet.
Here’s everything we know about Rebirth Island’s return to Warzone in 2024.
Rebirth Island return and release date in Warzone
Rebirth Island has been confirmed to return to Warzone on April 3 as part of MW3’s season three.
This means there are now four different Resurgence maps in Warzone as it joins Vondel, Fortune’s Keep, and Ashika Island for the small-map playlist. Urzikstan is still the main battle royale map for the time being, but that could also change in future seasons.
Rumors have also pointed to the highly-anticipated return of Verdansk, the original Warzone map, sometime at the end of 2024 following along with Treyarch’s next major CoD release. But for now, nothing is official, so stay tuned for more information about upcoming map changes in Warzone in the future.
It’s unclear if Rebirth will join Ranked Resurgence mode yet, or if that will remain exclusive to others, but for now, CoD fans can take solace in the fact that Rebirth Island is in regular Warzone alongside Warzone Mobile, meaning it’s here to stay unless plans change.
