Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set in the 1990s, at the end of the Cold War. It is also set after the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The story sees the US government infiltrated by foreign spies, and several soldiers are now accused of treason. To prove their loyalty, they must go rogue and undercover to uncover the mysteries and conspiracies within the government.

Several characters return in Black Ops 6. This includes Frank Woods, the protagonist of several Black Ops games; Russell Adler, who is featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as a central character in the campaign mode, also returns. The game also features all-new allies, including Troy Marshall, a member of Frank Woods’ Rogue Black Ops team, and Jane Harrow, a prominent CIA handler.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have an open campaign structure, where you will be able to pick and choose your playstyle, including your tools and weapons, and make choices that determine the story’s outcome.

Each mission starts with the new Safehouse, an abandoned manor and KGB black site, which serves as a campaign hub where you can choose to learn about allies, explore and solve puzzles, gather lore and upgrades, and more. You will also explore several locations and regions, including the US, the Russian tundra, Middle Eastern deserts, and Southern Europe.
