Season three of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is bringing some hot new content to the games. There will also be a special new event called Trophy Hunt launching alongside the battle pass and other goodies.
On April 10, Activision announced a new limited-time event coming to the franchise where players can earn limited-time items like blueprints, operator skins, XP tokens, and more all while playing their favorite CoD mode.
Here’s all you have to know about the Trophy Hunt event in CoD.
What is Trophy Hunt in MW2?
Trophy Hunt is a limited-time event in Call of Duty set to kick off season three in MW2, Warzone 2, and DMZ. The event was originally scheduled to last until the midseason update, but it’s been extended through the end of season three.
Here are all the details on how Trophy Hunt works across all of CoD’s game modes, according to Activision Blizzard:
- Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer: “Every unique enemy drops one trophy. In non-round-based modes, this must be picked up in order to be banked. In round-based modes, such as Search & Destroy, simply eliminating a unique enemy Operator grants one banked trophy.”
- Warzone 2 (Battle Royale, Resurgence, Plunder): “Both enemy Operators and AI Combatants drop trophies. Trophies are lost upon death. Win the match or bank them at a Buy Station.”
- DMZ: “Both enemy Operators and AI Combatants drop trophies. Trophies are lost upon death. Successfully exfiltrate or bank them at a Buy Station.”
Players can then take the trophies they have earned and spend them in the Event section of the main menu, exchanging them for various limited-time rewards.
MW2 Trophy Hunt event challenges
- Assault Rifles: Get 250 Operator Kills with an assault rifle.
- Battle Rifles: Get 30 Headshot Operator Kills with a battle rifle.
- SMGs: Get 3 Operator Kills Without Dying 20 times while using an SMG.
- Shotguns: Get 30 Hipfire Operator Kills with a shotgun.
- LMGs: Get 30 Operator Kills While Mounted with an LMG.
- Marksman Rifles: Get 25 Longshot Operator Kills with a marksman rifle.
- Sniper Rifles: Get 30 Longshot Operator Kills with a sniper.
- Sidearms: Get 50 Operator Kills with a sidearm.
- Launchers: Get 40 Operator Kills with a launcher.
- Melee: Get 30 Operator Kills from behind with a melee weapon.
MW2 Trophy Hunt rewards
There are a ton of rewards available during the event, but all of them must be purchased with trophies you’ve accumulated and banked. Here’s what you can get, along with the price for each reward:
- ‘Spade Sunset’ emblem: 15 Trophies
- ‘Enhanced Vision’ calling card: 15 Trophies
- Double XP Token: 15 Trophies
- Double Battle Pass XP Token: 30 Trophies
- Battle Pass tier skip: 30 Trophies
- ‘Mud Skirt’ Heavy Tank vehicle skin: 30 Trophies
- ‘Valeria’s Stare’ loading screen: 30 Trophies
- ‘Bleed Out’ weapon sticker: 30 Trophies
- ‘A Plan Forms’ loading screen: 30 Trophies
- ‘Trophy Hunter’ weapon charm: 30 Trophies
- ‘The Viper’s Pistol’ emblem: 30 Trophies
- ‘Woodie’ SUV vehicle skin: 30 Trophies
- ‘Betrayed’ loading screen: 30 Trophies
- Battle Pass tier skip: 30 Trophies
- ‘Track and Kill’ gun screen: 60 Trophies
- ‘Nightsting’ TAQ-V blueprint: 120 Trophies
- ‘Venom Strike’ M13B blueprint: 150 Trophies
- ‘Trophy Hunt Master’ calling card: 1,000 Trophies
There are also two exclusive rewards you can get by purchasing a number of the above rewards:
- ‘Psyop’ Roze Operator skin: Purchase any 10 items
- ‘Arachnid’ Konig Operator skin: Purchase any 15 items
MW2 and Warzone 2 trophy bank
You need to make sure to bank your trophies in Warzone 2 and DMZ because you lose them upon death. If you’re trying to rack up trophies, make sure to head to your nearest buy station and bank them before you die and lose them for good.

To save up trophies, we made sure to keep an eye out for buy stations in the immediate vicinity upon each Warzone 2 engagement. Trophies don’t count unless you bank them, so we prioritized those over the match at times.
In MW2 multiplayer, you bank your trophies automatically at the end of each match, so no worries there.
