The Vegas Legion franchise is officially leaving the Call of Duty League.
Team Falcons is replacing the Legion in the CDL for next year, the organization announced today. The team will be known as the Vegas Falcons and will feature a roster of all Saudi Arabian players, including Roxas, Exnid, KingAbody, and KHHX.
“Very grateful for this opportunity and excited to take this to another level,” Falcons coach LewTee said. “The boys have improved massively these last two years and have showed they are capable of achieving more. We’re aware that this new challenge will not be easy, and many will doubt us, but with hard work and an entire region behind us, I trust that the boys can achieve great things. Proud of you all and honoured to be apart of your journey. See you in the CDL.”
Breaking Point first reported the news of Team Falcons potentially acquiring the Vegas Legion CDL spot earlier this week. Falcons most recently competed in the CoD: MW3 tournament at the Esports World Cup from Aug. 15 to 18. The team couldn’t do better than a top-16 placing at the 16-team event after going 0-2 with losses to eventual champions Atlanta FaZe and Lore Gaming, a Challengers team led by two-time world champion Arcitys.
The Legion franchise—regardless of whether it was representing Paris or Vegas—had a lackluster tenure in the CDL. The Paris Legion came in last place in the 2022 CDL season with a 2-23 overall record before rebranding. As the Vegas Legion, the team finished in ninth place the last two years, missing out on CoD Champs in both seasons. In fact, the Legion franchise only competed at CoD Champs in 2020 when all 12 CDL teams automatically qualified for the end-of-season playoffs.
Interestingly enough, Falcons might not be the only new organization to enter the CDL for next season. Reports from earlier today suggest Fnatic and Gen.G could replace the Carolina Royal Ravens and Los Angeles Guerrillas. Dexerto’s Jacob Hale also reported earlier this month that Boston Breach parent company Oxygen Esports may cease operations.
With Falcons confirming its entry into the CDL and its roster for the 2025 season, that leaves one fewer franchise for potential free agents to sign with during the current rostermania offseason period. No information on the 2025 CDL schedule has been announced yet, but we do know Black Ops 6 will launch on Oct. 25.
