Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players should pick up any guns they want to level quickly. The developers are giving players another double XP weekend.

For a few days, players can get double XP on both their accounts and weapons. This means it might be a good time to level that weapon you don’t really feel like using but is required to unlock another gun or attachment you want to add to your loadout. You don’t have to stick to Warzone 2 or DMZ during that time period, either: some multiplayer modes will be available for free during the limited-time window, which allows you to rack up kills (and likely deaths) more quickly.

Here’s exactly when the MW2 double XP weekend kicks off and how long you have to make the most out of the celebrations.

When does MW2’s double XP weekend start and end?

MW2 players have an extra opportunity to grind their XP ahead of season two, which launches on Feb. 15. The latest double XP weekend in MW2 runs from Jan. 27 to 30, giving fans a few days to grind with some bonus incentives.

In addition to the double XP weekend, players can dive into a new set of playlists that launched on Jan. 26, bringing Shoot the Ship (a mix of Shipment and Shoot House), Cyber Attack, CDL Mosh Pit, and the Bounty game mode.

After the double XP weekend ends on Jan. 30, though, players can already set their sights on season two, which will bring a slew of changes. The developers have shared a bit of what’s on the horizon for season two, including the gulag returning to Warzone’s one-vs-one combat model, as well as changes to the cash economy and inventory.

DMZ players may not be too happy about season two, however. Despite the plethora of changes to difficulty, enemies, and spawn locations, developers will wipe players’ DMZ inventories when season two hits, forcing them to redo plenty of activities. Though this method isn’t unheard of in extraction-based games such as Escape From Tarkov, fans who aren’t familiar with the mechanic (or who haven’t adjusted to it) may not take the news too well.

Luckily for players, though, the developers are adding a new deployment area, akin to Al Mazrah and Building 21, as well as bringing in new faction missions with a tuned difficulty. Data from season one showed the jump in difficulty in faction missions was “too aggressive for many players” and unlocking the second Insured weapon slot was “very challenging.” Between the changed AI and difficulty and the new faction missions, players might just find themselves having enough reason to dive into DMZ and fill their Contraband slots all over again.
