Call of Duty fans should prepare themselves as, if they haven’t realized, Modern Warfare 2 brings the heat. If you’re a CoD gamer, you’ll love this iteration of the franchise, which draws inspiration from several previous installments of the series.
Weapons, maps, and characters return to add another layer of depth to the already-stacked franchise. There are a ton of difficult new features, the game is filled to the brim with customizable content and battle pass rewards to keep players entertained for hours on end.
One of the biggest questions players have about MW2 if you haven’t played it yet, is if it’s crossplay. Crossplay is a great way for fans spanning across different consoles to become one giant collective. No more console wars, just focus on fragging.
Does Modern Warfare 2 have crossplay and cross-platform progression?
Pinch yourself, as it is indeed a yes. Modern Warfare 2 does have crossplay, as well as cross-platform progression, similar to other past CoD titles.
Modern Warfare 2 also provides players with the ability to purchase a cross-gen edition for PlayStation and Xbox. This feature will only be available if you pick up the special Modern Warfare 2 cross-gen edition, though.
Don’t get too excited, the cross-gen edition means that you’ll be able to play on the PlayStation 4 and switch to the PlayStation 5, or on the Xbox Series X|S after switching from the Xbox One. You won’t be able to switch from Xbox to PlayStation.
Now you’ll be able to play with all your friends no matter what console they’re on. Prepare yourself to be absolutely owned by a PC player that has every bind set up so they can instantly trickshot you with ease.
You do have the luxury of switching crossplay off, and if you’re having difficulty or find it too easy, you’ll be able to switch it off as long as you’re on a console.
