The Dev Error 10493 issue in Black Ops 6 began appearing during the game’s early access beta in August 2024 and is normally due to a corrupt file in the game. Most players that are encountering the issue are on Xbox, although there have been PC players seeing Dev Error 10493 codes too.

It’s not yet clear whether this is a problem players will only encounter during the beta as it’s highly likely Activision will roll out fixes ahead of the main launch. Nevertheless, there are a few methods you can try so you can clear the error and get back to fragging.

If you’re on Xbox and are encountering Dev Error 10493 in Black Ops 6, you’ll need to clear the game’s reserved space. To do this:

  • Head to the Xbox home screen.
  • Select My Games and Apps, then select Black Ops 6.
  • Open Manage Game and Add-ons.
  • Under Saved Data, select the Reserved Space for Black Ops 6 (should be around 10 to 12GB) and clear it by hitting Clear Reserved Space.
    • This will not reset your data and progression through the beta or the game.
  • Restart your Xbox, then launch the game.

This should cycle out your reserved space and reset it, removing any corrupted file or data block getting in your way. If this doesn’t work, you’re going to have to uninstall the game entirely (including CoD HQ to be safe) and redownload the client with the newest update.

If you’re on a PC, specifically Steam, you can do the same by verifying the game’s cache. To do this:

  • Open Steam, then select Library.
  • Select Call of Duty, then select Properties.
  • Under Installed Files, click Verify integrity of game files.
  • After a check is performed, you’ll be prompted to download any corrupt or missing files.
  • Relaunch the game to confirm the error has cleared.

Like Xbox, if this doesn’t resolve the issue, you’re best off reinstalling the game and client entirely.
