Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has officially launched. The CoD Next Showcase in September featured some unique aspects players can look forward to in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, but something changed between then and the launch of the game. On Nov. 9, Activision revealed that changes have been made to loadout functionality in Warzone 2. At CoD Next, loadouts were nonexistent. The feature is different now, and it’s sure to get players talking.
There are some major changes, and perhaps the most important one was that Loadout drops wouldn’t be available in Warzone 2. But after lots of community feedback, a huge reversal was made when it comes to Loadout drops in Warzone 2.
Here’s what players need to know about the new Buy Stations and whether or not there are loadouts in Warzone 2.
Can you purchase a loadout drop in Warzone 2?
Originally, Warzone 2 launched without the feature of buying a Loadout drop marker directly from a buy station, with players only able to purchase the primary weapon from their Loadout. “Similar to the original Call of Duty: Warzone, Loadouts play a large role in what makes this game unique, and in this new era, players will have quicker access to their Loadout’s primary benefit: the Primary Weapon,” Activision originally said.
But now, that’s changed. In a Dec. 20 update, Raven Software officially brought back purchasable Loadout Drops. Players can now buy a Loadout Drop Grenade from the buy station, at the following prices:
- Solos: $8,000
- Duos: $16,000
- Trios: $24,000
- Quads: $32,000
How to get a loadout in Warzone 2
In total, there are three ways to get a loadout in Warzone 2, according to Activision:
- “Shops – Players can use in-match Cash at the Shops (new name for the Buy Station) to purchase their Primary Weapon from their created Loadouts.” Now, players can also buy a full Loadout from the Shop at the listed above prices.
- “Loadout Drop Public Event – Loadout Drops will drop into Al Mazrah in the middle of Battle Royale matches. However, these are not limited or assigned to individual squads, but instead can be accessed by any players.”
- “Strongholds and Black Sites – Players can also earn their Loadout in the early game as a reward for clearing a Stronghold or a Black Site.”
A full Loadout consists of a primary and secondary weapon, tactical and lethal equipment, and a perk package. There are eight preset perk packages to choose from, but you cannot create your own perk package in Warzone 2 like you can in MW2. Each player has 10 custom Loadout slots to use.
You can still get Squadmate Buy Backs from The Shop. Similarly, you can purchase certain equipment like Armor, Killstreaks, and Gas Masks from The Shop. There are also specific Limited Time Equipment that players can purchase, and once bought, they are removed from The Shop.
