Major Two gave Call of Duty League fans some of the most memorable moments of the 2022 season so far. The Los Angeles Guerrillas did the unthinkable by winning the event, Spart solidified his spot in the league, and we saw Mack carry on playing after throwing up mid-map.

Looking at our post-Major Two rookie ladder, Gismo has finally been dethroned and pushed down to fourth after seven weeks at the No. 1 spot. He’s been lackluster at both Major tournaments, to say the least, and will have to prove himself at Major Three hosted by the Toronto Ultra in June.

Capsidal has slowly risen from fifth, to third, to second, and now first. His Search and Destroy and Hardpoint have both been great this season, but his Control still needs to be worked on.

Sib, the second half of the Seattle Surge rookie duo, has looked great over the last few weeks of matches and has found himself back in second place after a seven-week hiatus from the top three.

Moving down to third, unlike Gismo, Nastie has kept his place in the top three despite the London Royal Ravens placing top eight in Major Two.

Pred has slid down to fifth, narrowly beating Davpadie by one single vote. Both players could easily claw their way into the top three during Major Three qualifiers, which start in May.

Paris Legion rookies Jimbo and GRVTY, who have both been struggling since debuting in the league, are our bottom two on the ladder, while Nero has dropped down to the seventh spot after a mediocre performance at Major Two.

Here are our rookie rankings following the second Major of the 2022 CDL season.

9) Bryan “Jimbo” Sabman

  • Last ladder: Ninth
  • Team standings: 12th (2-11)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 0.83
    • Since the last ladder: 1.08

Paris only played one series during Major Two, which was a quick loss to London. Jimbo finished the match with a 1.08 kill/death ratio. He had the second-most kills in the series and recorded the third-most damage in the lobby.

Over the six matches Jimbo has played in the CDL, his statistics in Hardpoint are some of the worst in the entire league—and his Control stats aren’t much better. Aside from his first blood percentage in Search and Destroy, he isn’t getting much done there, either.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint
    • Kill/death ratio: 0.79 (ninth among rookies, 55nd in the league)
    • Kills per 10 mins: 22.3 (seventh among rookies, 42nd in the league)
    • Damage per 10 mins: 2,659 (ninth among rookies, 52nd in the league)
  • Control
    • Kill/death ratio: 0.92 (seventh among rookies, 48th in the league)
    • Kills per 10 mins: 18.1 (fifth among rookies, 25th in the league)
    • Damage per 10 mins: 2,333 (fifth among rookies, 22nd in the league)

    • First blood percentage: 17.3 percent (first among rookies, sixth in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 0.83 (ninth among rookies, 55th in the league)

8) Thomas “GRVTY” Malin

  • Last ladder: Eighth
  • Team standings: 12th (2-11)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 0.98
    • Since the last ladder: 1.06

Like Jimbo, GRVTY has been struggling to get anything going in his debut season and is sitting near the bottom of the table in every game mode. His Hardpoint stats are about as low as Jimbo’s, Control is slightly worse, and in Search and Destroy, he averages the fewest kills per round out of all active players in the entire league.

Heading into Major Three qualifiers in May, Paris will match up against the London Royal Ravens and Seattle Surge in week one. GRVTY and Jimbo will both be looking to get something going.

    • First blood percentage: 8.0 percent (ninth among rookies, 51st in the league)

7) Dylan “Nero” Koch

  • Last ladder: Sixth
  • Team standings: Fourth (10-8)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 0.92
    • Since the last ladder: 0.88

Nero’s consistency woes continue. At Major Two, he averaged a 0.88 kill/death ratio, only posting a positive K/D once against the Los Angeles Guerrillas, which also resulted in a loss.

On the plus side, Nero’s Control statistics are steadily rising with every match he plays. Now, Boston fans will just be looking for Capsidal to follow his lead.

The Boston Breach finished third at Major Two, securing $80,000 and 40 CDL points. This finish pushed them into fourth in the season standings, just 10 points behind London.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint

    • First blood percentage: 13.4 percent (sixth among rookies, 22nd in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 0.92 (eighth among rookies, 43rd in the league)

6) David “Davpadie” Maslowski

  • Last ladder: Seventh
  • Team standings: Seventh (6-9)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.07
    • Since the last ladder: 1.14

Davpadie is still a hard player to rank due to his style and the pace of his playstyle. Multiple voters had him in their top three, while others had him near the bottom. Luckily for him, he’s moved up one spot since our last ladder and was only a single vote from overtaking Pred for fifth.

After placing fourth at Major Two, the Florida Mutineers are sitting in seventh place on the season and are in a three-way tie with the L.A. Thieves and Surge for total CDL points with 70.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint

    • Kills per round: 0.65 (sixth among rookies, 41st in the league)
    • First blood percentage: 10.1 percent (eighth among rookies, 42nd in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 1.07 (first among rookies, eighth in the league)

  • Last ladder: Fifth
  • Team standings: Eighth (6-9)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.01
    • Since the last ladder: 1.01

The Australian rookie is in the top three in almost every category among rookie players, which isn’t easy considering he’s playing the most aggressive role on his team.

Seattle had a dream start to Major Two. They swept the defending champions, OpTic Texas, and then found themselves in a game five, round 11 against Atlanta FaZe, all while Mack was battling health issues.

But Seattle came up short in the series against FaZe. They went on to face the Los Angeles Guerrillas without Mack and, again, fell short in game five, bowing out of the tournament with a top-six placing.

Advanced season stats

4) Joey “Gismo” Owen

  • Last ladder: First
  • Team standings: Third (11-6)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.00
    • Since the last ladder: 0.93

After sitting at the top of our rankings for almost two months, Gismo has been dethroned and dropped three places to fourth after back-to-back disappointing performances at Major One and Major Two.

During online qualifier matches, Gismo is averaging a 1.13 kill/death ratio over 33 maps. But while playing at Major tournaments in an offline environment, he’s only averaging a 0.86 kill/death ratio over 27 maps, which is a significant and clearly noticeable difference.

Gismo will have a lot to prove come Major Three in June.

    • First blood percentage: 17.1 percent (second among rookies, seventh in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 1.00 (fifth among rookies, 21st in the league)

3) Byron “Nastie” Plumridge

  • Last ladder: Third
  • Team standings: Third (11-6)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 0.99
    • Since the last ladder: 0.94

The Royal Ravens had a disappointing showing at Major Two. They were unexpectedly swept in their first-round matchup against Florida and sent to the elimination bracket, where they went on to beat Paris but were then swept by the Major Two champions, the L.A. Guerrillas.

Nastie has been consistent since the start of the season and has held onto his third spot in our rankings. He’s even taken the crown as the best rookie on the Ravens, for now.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint
    • Kill/death ratio: 1.00 (sixth among rookies, 28th in the league)

    • First blood percentage: 14.8 percent (fifth among rookies, 15th in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 0.99 (sixth among rookies, 25th in the league)

2) Daunte “Sib” Gray

  • Last ladder: Fourth
  • Team standings: Eighth (6-9)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.04
    • Since the last ladder: 1.06

Sib has had a rollercoaster of a season but has finally found some real consistency in his gameplay over the last few weeks. He’s climbed back up to the second spot on the ladder, where he was originally ranked prior to Major One.

Respawn is Sib’s strong suit by a mile. This season, he’s ranked top 10 in both Hardpoint kills per 10 minutes and damage per 10 minutes, as well as top 10 in Control kill/death ratio, kills per 10 minutes, and damage per 10 minutes.

If Seattle can keep up with the top teams during Major Three, he could steal the top spot on this list from Capsidal.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint
    • Kill/death ratio: 1.05 (second among rookies, 14th in the league)

    • First blood percentage: 11.8 percent (seventh among rookies, 31st in the league)
  • Overall kill/death ratio: 1.04 (second among rookies, 16th in the league)

1) Kenyen “Capsidal” Sutton

  • Last ladder: Second
  • Team standings: Fourth (10-8)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.03
    • Since the last ladder: 1.00

A new rookie has risen to the top.

Capsidal is still without a doubt the best Search and Destroy player within this season’s rookie class. He ranks top five in the entire league in both kill/death ratio and kills per round, as well as 13th in first blood percentage.

Looking at his respawn, Hardpoint is another strong suit for Capsidal and a big reason why he’s sitting at the top. But his Control statistics still rank almost dead last in the entire league, with the majority of the players below him either being substitutes or players who are no longer in the league.

Advanced season stats

  • Hardpoint
    • Kill/death ratio: 1.07 (first among rookies, 11th in the league)
