Early on in your Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough, you will likely find yourself tasked with killing all the Goblin leaders at the Goblin Camp.
The battle between the Goblins, the Tieflings, and the Druids of the Emerald Grove is one of the first major choices that significantly alters the progression of the camp, depending on who you side with.
Whether you decided to rescue the Druid Halsin or you just want to take a crack at finding the Nightsong, your travels in Act 1 will eventually take you to the Goblin Camp, where three leaders can be found running the show. As part of the quest to rescue Halsin, you’ll need to take them all out.
Each leader presents a different threat, and a variety of tactics will need to be used, which we have detailed here.
Where to find Halsin in the Goblin Camp
Halsin can be found in the northeast of the Goblin Camp in the Pens area, where you will find three Goblins throwing stones at a bear.
When you interact with these Goblins, you can choose to rescue the bear through deception, intimidation, persuasion, or simply revealing your parasite. Once the bear is free and you’ve taken care of the nearby enemies, it will reveal itself to actually be the Druid you’ve been looking for, Halsin.
You can ask Halsin to join you in your fight, although he warns you that this will lead to immediate combat with any enemies that spot you, so it’s best to leave him behind and instead use stealth and surprise to your advantage.
Halsin may think this is true, but it’s honestly not a bad idea to have a large bear as your fifth party member if you’re more inclined toward taking the direct approach.
The three Goblin leaders will not be marked on your map but are easy to find.
How to kill Priestess Gut in BG3
Priestess Gut is the easiest of the three leaders to kill, as you can speak to her about the tadpole in your eye, and she will ask you to follow her into a room on the west side of the Shattered Sanctum. She will ask you to send your whole party away if you start the conversation, so keep that in mind as you set up your ambush.
Once inside, close the door and use a stealth attack with someone like Astarion to inflict damage immediately and get the fight underway. The goal is to kill Priestess Gut as quickly as possible so that she doesn’t call in reinforcements.
If reinforcements are called in, try to move characters outside of the room to spread them out so you’re not exposed to easy AOE damage with thrown items, and you should also attempt to destroy the drum—which an enemy can use to call in further reinforcements.
How to kill Priestess Gut without combat
What we did was follow Priestess Gut to her chamber after the conversation about being a True Soul.
- Enter the chamber and close the door behind you.
- Have a party member talk to her without progressing dialogue,
- Position your other party members around her.
- Use your strongest attacks against her.
This will start a fight, of course. The key is to get rid of Priestess Gut before her turn. If you do not kill her before her turn, she will call the whole camp upon you.
Use Silence on her when you get the chance before she has a turn.
Make a note of the room where you find Priestess Gut because you’ll need to return there to access the stone disc puzzle in the Defiled Temple.
How to kill Minthara in BG3
If you want to get rid of Minthara quickly, you can attack her either stealthily before engaging in dialogue or by selecting dialogue prompts to initiate combat. Thankfully, she’s not overly difficult to defeat if you focus your attacks on her and then clear out the remaining Goblins nearby. Having a bear on your side definitely helps here.
Be warned, though. Killing Minthara obviously rules out any romance with her in your playthrough, as you can’t recruit or romance dead people.
However, it is best to kill Minthara at the grove since you get to loot her body, finish the quest and gain a lot of XP.
How to kill Minthara without combat
To kill Minthara without combat, you will need to agree with her in the fight against the grove.
- Talk with her and agree to meet her at the grove to fight.
- As she is walking off, have an archer at the ready.
- When she gets on the bridge, shoot the Wooden Support at the beginning of the bridge.
- The bridge will collapse as well as Minthara on it.
You will not receive the Spidersilk Armour off of Minthara if you kill her this way.
It is a rather humorous way to get rid of Minthara, and the rest of your party agrees.
How to kill Dror Ragzlin in BG3
Dror Ragzlin is the hardest of the three leaders to defeat, so if you’re struggling and left Halsin behind, leave him to last and return to the Druid, who you can then ask to join you. While you will lose the element of surprise, he can inflict further damage and tank hits.
You can find Dror Ragzlin in the north of the Shattered Sanctum. Stealth is again your ally for this fight, and you should climb the ladders with anyone that has a ranged attack to get an advantage on any enemies that are below you.
Be wary, however, as any enemy that climbs up the ladders can easily shove you off for significant damage, although this works both ways, and you can do the same.
AOE attacks are a great way to inflict major damage upon Dror Ragzlin and other enemies near him, particularly if you continue to take advantage of the high ground. I do recommend having at least one party member at ground level, however, to heal or assist anyone who falls from above.
How to kill Dror Ragzlin without combat
Dror Ragzlin is possibly the most difficult Goblin leader to kill since he is surrounded by people.
- Drink an invisibility potion.
- Go up to Dror and push him into the hole behind him.
- He will fall to his death.
- Use another invisibility potion to escape the fight.
You will not gain loot from Dror in this instance.
Yes, this does start a fight, however, with 2-4 invisibility potions, you should be able to make a swift escape to the other room.
The Goblin leaders will become easier to get rid of the more times you fight them. However, no matter how many times you discreetly kill each one, the whole camp will still be against you. Killing the goblin leaders in public is a nice way to finish the Goblin Camp first. Killing the goblin leaders without combat will allow you to escape the camp and come back to finish the rest of the goblins off later.
