Well, this is awkward.

Anyone who played games growing up has likely experienced the moment when a parent or guardian walked in when the game you’re enjoying is displaying something truly awkward. Recently, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player experienced it first-hand.

A Reddit user named kmcaulifflower shared how her dad walked in while she was playing the Emperor’s Mind Flayer romance and sex scene. As you might have guessed, it quickly became awkward. “I think it’s time for me to either die or move out. My relationship with my father is forever tainted,” she wrote.

“Are ya winning, son?” one player asked, making a reference to one of the most classic memes on the internet. Kmcaulifflower specified she’s actually a daughter, but yes, this was indeed a recreation of the meme in a very odd way.

Still, the author seems to be a fan of Monthy Python, since she always looks on the bright side of life. “Welp at least he didn’t walk in during Halsin’s bear sex scene, I think that’d be the only way to make this worse,” she added.

In a game that’s so enormous like Baldur’s Gate 3, having your relatives unexpectedly show up while you’re gaming can be dangerous. In the end, the latest Larian Studios production has numerous moments that can seem just weird for those who aren’t into the story.

Therefore, I’m glad I moved out from my friends at the start of Summer and actually had the chance to experience the game in peace. My former roommates wouldn’t stop making fun of me if they saw me romancing an edgy Vampire. As kmcaulifflower showcased, there could be much worse moments for people to come in during gaming sessions.
