Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has unsurprisingly been a huge success for Nintendo in the U.S. And now, Nintendo has announced that the title has sold over five million copies since the start of December.

To put that into perspective, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold over 12 million units worldwide since it was released on Dec. 7, 2018—which means that almost half of the copies sold have come from the U.S. market.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the No. 1 game on the Nintendo Switch, however, with 15 million units sold worldwide since its release in 2017. Considering Ultimate has only been out for a few months, though, it could easily pass Mario Kart in 2019 and become the Nintendo Switch’s best-selling game.

With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate doing so well and the competitive scene developing, we can only imagine that great things are on the way for the title. There are still five more DLC characters set to come out over the next year, so there’s plenty to look forward to in this popular game.
