There’s no shortage of merchants and stores where you can buy and sell items across the vast playable galaxy of Starfield, and at the rate you can find and pick up loot in this game, that’s a blessing.
Thankfully, the Trade Authority has store locations and kiosks in each major city that will work with any faction and is willing to ignore regulation to ensure that a deal is made. Are they one of the shadier merchants in the game? Probably, but when it comes to selling your goods in Starfield they’re the best place to go.
How many credits does each Trade Authority have?
While it may slightly vary from location to location, the total amount of credits that a Trade Authority location has for buying your unwanted baubles is generally the same. Trade Authority stores typically have 12,000 credits while Trade Authority kiosks have around 5,000 credits.
That might not sound like a lot when you’ve got plenty of loot you’d like to be rid of, but both stores and kiosks will get more credits after 24 hours have passed in-game. To make this process quicker, you’ll have to find a nearby chair, bench, bed, or anything that lets you sit and pass the time.
It’s worth noting that those 24 hours have to be local time to whatever planet you might be on.
What can the Trade Authority buy?
The Trade Authority is your go-to location for selling anything you find in Starfield, and we mean anything. If you can carry it in your inventory, you can sell it at the Trade Authority. Of course, you’re not allowed to sell quest specific items and the game will prevent you from doing so.
For you players that choose to make your money by dealing with contraband, the Trade Authority will be your best friend as it’s one of the only vendors that will accept your illegal wares. Provided you have shielded cargo to make it past those pesky scanners.
Be aware, however, that contraband cannot be sold at Trade Authority kiosks. You’ll have to enter a Trade Authority building and speak to its vendor to sell contraband.
Any non-quest specific item from any of the following categories is sellable:
- Weapons
- Spacesuits
- Packs
- Helmets
- Apparel
- Throwables
- Ammo
- Aid
- Notes
- Miscellaneous
All Trade Authority locations in Starfield
While kiosk locations are a bit more plentiful and found in nearly every major spaceport, Trade Authority store locations are a bit more limited. Here is a list of all currently known Trade Authority store locations. This list is in progress and will be updated with more Trade Authority locations as they become available.
The Well Trade Authority
The first Trade Authority location you’ll likely come across is in the city of New Atlantis on the planet Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system. Located in The Well portion of the city, this is not the most convenient Trade Authority to visit as getting to The Well takes a fair amount of walking even after you’ve unlocked some fast travel options within New Atlantis.
Additionally, it’s not ideal for any contraband smuggling thanks to the fact that you’re scanned before landing on the planet and before entering the city. Of course, that city scan can be circumvented.
The Well Trade Authority location
- After landing at the main New Atlantis landing zone, walk toward the scanner ramp. If you have contraband, use the garbage can to climb onto the balcony to the left of the ramp so you do not get scanned.
- Walk towards the corridor between Jemison Mercantile and Terrabrew Coffee, and take the elevator down to The Well.
- Walk down the small stairwell and take a left, walking around the House of the Enlightened. You will find the Trade Authority next to the House of the Enlightened and Apex Electronics.
The Den Trade Authority
The Den is located in orbit around Chthonia in the Wolf system. While there’s not much else to see or do in the Wolf system, The Den is an exceptional Trade Authority location for a number of reasons. You’re not scanned when you enter the system, you’re not scanned when boarding The Den, and the Trade Authority itself is only a few steps away from The Den’s entrance. It’s an ideal spot for selling contraband.
The Den Trade Authority Location
- After docking with The Den, board the station.
- Walk past the Ship Services sign, and you will see a very small Trade Authority desk to your left.
Cydonia Trade Authority
It’s definitely more convenient than visiting The Well in New Atlantis, but a visit to the Trade Authority on Mars in the Sol system. still involves being scanned before landing on the planet.
Cydonia Trade Authority location
Finding the Cydonia Trade Authority shop is easy as it’s located directly on lower level one.
- Head inside to the Cydonia central hub, and head straight down the ramp to the main plaza and stairwells.
- As soon as you reach the bottom of the ramp, the Cydonia Trade Authority is the first door on your right before you head down the stairs.
Akila City Trade Authority
The Freestar Collective might be a bunch of space cowboys, but they still have their rules. That, unfortunately, means the planet Akila in the Cheyenne system will scan your ship for contraband. Once you’ve landed, however, you can head to the Akila City Trade Authority shop just past the main gate.
Akila City Trade Authority location
- After landing at the Akila City landing spot, head into the city through the main gate.
- Immediately head right upon entering the city, walking along the right side of the Hitching Post and up the stairs.
- You should see a building with a big green Trade Authority right in front of you. The door is on the left side of the building.
Neon Trade Authority
You would think that the sleazy, crime-ridden streets of Neon have absolutely no problem with contraband, and you would be right. However, the space around the planet Volii Alpha in the Volii system is not part of the Neon streets, and you will be scanned for contraband.
Additionally, taking the hallucinogenic Aurora in and out of Neon can get you in a whole mess of trouble if the city’s security catches you with a scan.
Neon Trade Authority location
The Neon Trade Authority shop is located right next to the main entrance elevator.
- After landing at the Neon landing spot, head through the security checkpoint and down the elevator.
- Upon exiting the elevator, you will immediately see a bright neon yellow Trade Authority sign to your left. The door is on the right side.
The Key Trade Authority
There is supposedly a Trade Authority location in The Key, the home of the Crimson Fleet pirate faction in the Kryx system. However, until you find a way to become friendly with the Crimson Fleet, perhaps via an undercover mission for the UC SysDef, The Key is not accessible unless you want to get vaporized.
