Icecrown Citadel is one of World of Warcraft’s most iconic raids, and players looking to get their nostalgia fix in WoW Classic can’t wait to know when Wrath of the Lich King phase four begins so that they can have their opportunity to finally take on the Lich King.
Whether it’s Icecrown Citadel, downing the Lich King, completing the Shadowmourne Legendary quest, or trying to get the elusive mount Invincible, this patch is what many players have been looking forward to since WotLK Classic started last September.
Finally, Blizzard has given players an official release date for the fourth content phase of WoW Wrath Classic, as well as the iconic Icecrown Citadel raid.
Does WoW WotLK Classic phase four have a release date?
Phase four of WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be launching on Oct. 10. Icecrown Citadel will be opening its doors to adventurers two days later on Oct. 12.
When the new content phase rolls out, players will be able to begin another cycle of gearing up their characters and progressing through the “new” raid. Icecrown Citadel is arguably the most iconic raid in the history of WoW, so it should be expected that many players will return to Wrath Classic for the experience.
Luckily, if you’re a returning player who’s looking to level a character up to level 80 in time to play through ICC, the Joyous Journeys experience buff is currently active on Wrath Classic servers, so you’ll be able to catch up at an expedited rate.
It’s unclear exactly what’s going to happen after Wrath of the Lich King comes to a close. This expansion marks the end of WoW’s “original trilogy,” and for many Classic enthusiasts, the appeal of the game’s would-be next expansion, Cataclysm, just isn’t the same when compared to the first three WoW releases. Still, it’s unlikely for Blizzard to pull the plug on an experiment that’s yielded such positive results as Classic WoW has.
Wrath Classic phase four will go live on Oct. 10, and 48 hours later, on Oct. 12, Icecrown Citadel will be available.
