XDefiant, Ubisoft’s new free-to-play shooter game, launched in closed beta on April 13 and in open beta on June 21. Streamers and casual players are already having fun playing it on PC, but is the game out on console, too?
Many players enjoy the comfort of playing shooters on their consoles despite how useful a mouse and keyboard can be in these high-octane titles. For some, playing with a controller and on a bigger screen like a television is more appealing than sitting in a chair and playing on a PC for hours on end.
Luckily for those players, Ubisoft has console plans too.
Is XDefiant on PlayStation and Xbox? Answered
The XDefiant open beta is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Unfortunately for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, however, the open beta is not available for these consoles at time of writing. Once the game releases, though, PS4 and Xbox One owners will be able to enjoy it if everything goes to plan.
Unlike the closed beta, which forced you to manually sign up or hope you got access through Twitch drops, the open beta is just that: open. You don’t have to do anything but download the game from one of the marketplaces it’s on and start playing.

You should act fast, though. The open beta will only be available for about two days, with its end date currently scheduled for 1am CT on June 24.
If there’s no other playtest after the open beta, you won’t be able to play the game until it fully launches, which is expected to happen later this year.
