The latest Hearthstone card revealed from Kobolds and Catacombs was already shown in part three of The Tale of the Fox—we just didn’t know it.
The new Druid legendary is Ixlid, Fungal Lord. This 2/4 body costs five mana, and its effect allows you to summon a copy of a minion after you play it. The base stats on the card are terrible, but its effect can allow for some interesting plays and it will trigger Elemental combos.
This mechanic is typically seen in Rogue, but now it makes its way into Druid. The current Druid decks are focused around Jades and this card doesn’t fit well into that deck type. Big Druid, however, has persisted through multiple metas and this card may make it the main Druid deck once again.
The ability to summon a full copy of a minion after you play it can be a massive advantage when you are at 10 mana. Cards like Deathwing, Y’Shraaj, and Ysera can lead to insane advantages when you have two full copies of them. And if you don’t have mana for these cards, you can use Innervate and Kun the Forgotten King to make it all possible.
Even though this card doesn’t have a stat line that keeps it alive for long, if you can pull off a one-turn combo, it could lead to a strong advantage for you.
Kobolds and Catacombs will be released Dec. 7. You can pre-order 50 packs now to receive a special card back.
