In card games, the meta of decks always changes from time to time. Marvel Snap is no stranger to that, especially with it being a digital card game where nerfs and buffs happen regularly. More cards are being added as the game progresses too, leaving players with a growing choice of strategies in terms of gameplay.
Here is the deck tier list in Marvel Snap for March 2023.
Marvel Snap latest patch highlights
Before we dive into the Marvel Snap tier list for March 2023, here’s a recap of the latest patch Second Dinner implemented in the game that went live on March 21, 2023. Some of the highlights of the patch that impacted the meta include the nerfs for the following cards:
- Quinjet – Quinjet worked wonders in Thanos/Lockjaw decks since it made the Infinity Stones cost zero. In the latest patch, Quinjet now reduces the cost of cards that did not start in the deck of its user to a minimum of one, meaning there are no more zero-cost Infinity Stones.
- Aero – The outplay Aero can do is game-changing. Though, it was nerfed in the last patch, making Aero move only the last card the opponent played during the turn you played it as well.
- Red Skull – Red Skull’s Power went down from 15 to 13. Though, the original plus two Power it can give to the opponent’s cards is now plus one. This is more of compensating the Power nerf done to Red Skull, which is quite balanced.
- Knull and Morbius – Both of these cards’ Power gain now won’t work when they are in the deck. The bonus Power gained by the former now only works when it is in the hand or at a location, while the latter only powers-up when it is on a location.
- Mystique, Absorbing Man, and Taskmaster – All of these cards now require the card where they copied its stats/effects to be at play. Destroying the copied cards will remove the copied stat/ability of these cards.
New Marvel Snap cards for March
Here are the new cards that came to Marvel Snap this March:
- Master Mold (two-cost, two-Power) – On Reveal: Add 2 Sentinel to your opponent’s hand.
- Nimrod (five-cost, five-Power) – When this is destroyed, add a copy to each other location.
- Negasonic Teenage Warhead (three-cost, four-Power) – After ANY card is played here, destroy this card AND that card.
- Kitty Pryde (one-cost, zero-Power) – You can return this to your hand to gain +2 Power.
Marvel Snap March 2023 deck tier list
S Tier (most consistent decks in terms of winning strategy and effectiveness)
Shuri/Zero
Still the undisputed top deck in all of Marvel Snap, the Shuri/Zero deck is the most popular deck in the game this March. It involves the use of a simple strategy, which is to use Shuri’s effect to double the Power of Red Skull and eventually end the game with Taskmaster. With this, you will have two 26-Power units on turn six, which is a pretty hard thing to deal with for the opponent.
This deck mainly focuses on pulling off the Shuri-Red Skull-Taskmaster combo. If you are not able to draw all three pieces in time, some other alternatives for Shuri’s effect include She-Hulk and America Chavez. Zero is also there to support Red Skull in removing its Ongoing ability in case you can’t draw Shuri. Cards like Armor can protect Red Skull from threats like Shang-Chi, as well as Lizard which is a cheap Power booster.
A Tier (consistent decks and has a viable winning setup)
Thanos/Lockjaw
Before the Quinjet nerf, the Thanos/Lockjaw deck could be placed in the S Tier and goes on par with the Shuri/Zero deck. Lockjaw’s ability to swap the cards you played on the location where it is placed with random cards from your deck is amazing. And making the six Infinity Stones zero cost thanks to Quinjet saves you Energy that can be used for other cards. But now with the recent nerf, the deck has dropped down to A tier.
Still, the one-cost Infinity Stones are still viable to be played alongside Lockjaw. These stones provide certain advantages to your side for all aspects, such as gaining bonus Energy, drawing cards, changing locations, and more. Some high-Powered units like Thanos himself, as well as She-Hulk, Magneto, Doctor Doom, and Devil Dinosaur can be the potential targets for Lockjaw’s effect, with the possibility of playing them without the need of spending Energies. Shang-Chi, Aero, and Leech can also be added for more toolbox strategies in case you need to outplay your opponent in the late game.
Galactus Destroy
The traditional Galactus deck is already strong on its own. It can completely dismantle your opponent’s strategy once you are able to activate its ability, especially for decks that rely on swarming the field with multiple units (Sera Control, Patriot, DoomWave, etc.). But combining it with cards that benefit from being destroyed or destroying multiple units makes Galactus even stronger.
The aim of this deck is to play Galactus as early as turn four. You can do this by playing either Wave or Electro on turn three. Once you are successful in doing so, cards like Wolverine can be beneficial since you will have an additional Power boost on your lone location. By turn five, this is where you can strategize well on how you want to end your game. You can go on locking your opponent’s location with Spider-Man or Hobgoblin, or by fighting toe-to-toe with getting higher Power with Knull or Death.
Sera Control
With the popularity of the Shuri/Zero decks is the emergence of its counter, the Sera Control deck. This deck’s strategy provides more of a toolbox engine wherein you can use multiple cards at once with the help of Sera to disrupt your opponent’s strategy, as well as gain Power through the effects of some cheap cost cards.
Playing Sera by turn five can pave the way for multiple options in turn six. This includes Shang-Chi which is effective against units with nine or more Power, as well as Enchantress which makes your opponent’s Ongoing effects ineffective. Valkyrie, on the other hand, is a disruptor aimed to make Red Skull or Taskmaster’s Power to just three. For your Power gainers, you can play the classic cards like Angela, Bishop, and Wolfsbane. Lizard is also there for added Power value, Armor for protection, Sentinel for a consistent location filler, and the combo of Nova and Killmonger which can increase all of your units’ Power.
B Tier (other good deck options)
Thor/Lockjaw
The Thor/Lockjaw is more of a budget version of the Thanos/Lockjaw deck. Using Thor instead of Thanos is a good deal since you can have a 10-Powered unit once you are able to play Mjolnir. And playing it on Lockjaw can give you another random unit that can have higher Power compared to it.
Jane Foster is a must in this deck since it can guarantee to get Mjolnir if you play it by turn five. Jubilee can also be played for Lockjaw, giving you two random units at once upon playing it on the location where Lockjaw is placed. Some of the high-Powered units you can include in this deck are Vision, She-Hulk, America Chavez, Magneto, and The Infinaut.
Electro Ramp
The classic Electro Ramp deck is still performing well before and after the last patch. Playing Electro or Wave on turn three is your main priority to pave the way for Sandman on turn four. This limits both you and your opponent to just play one card per turn as long as Sandman’s Ongoing ability is active. You can end the game by playing Doctor Doom on turn five and Odin on turn six to reactivate Doctor Doom’s On Reveal ability.
Discard Deck
The deck that revolves around the Discard mechanic is one of the earliest strategies introduced in the game. Most of its components are cards from pools one to three, such as Sword Master, Lady Sif, Blade, Swarm, Morbius, Dracula, Hela, Apocalypse, and more. Though, it had a big boost thanks to the release of M.O.D.O.K. which can be your last resort card to boost your cars that benefit from discarding cards. This deck may be more predictable compared to the A-tier decks, but still worth a shot in the current meta.
Other notable decks performers for March include:
- Patriot/Valkyrie – This deck is a rising star since it is also another counter for the Shuri/Zero deck, specifically Valkyrie. You can then outpower your opponent with Patriot strategy, as well as swarming the field with vanilla units or with Ultron.
- Hazmat On Reveal – Hazmat’s On Reveal ability to give all cards minus one Power Can be spammed with the help of Wong and Odin. Luke Cage is a must in this deck since it prevents your cards’ Power to be decreased in any way.
Marvel Snap next patch expectations
With the current meta being dominated by Shuri decks, it is safe to assume that Shuri could be nerfed in the next patch. Red Skull and Taskmaster already received their nerfs in the latest patch but are still effective tools for Shuri. So, we may probably see a drop of Shuri players if we will get a nerf on her.
