VALORANT players have no idea why this key mechanic still doesn’t add to your combat score

Just don't give it to me.

One VALORANT player believes that planting and defusing the spike should be included in your combat score, and it’s sparked a heated debate across the fandom.

On March 21, one gamer shared their opinion on Reddit—planting the spike impacts your ability to get kills, and therefore, should be taken into consideration. They argued that planting and defusing are inherently “risky” despite not really being combat related, thus spurring a back-and-forth between other VALORANT players in the community.

Some players argued planting the VALORANT spike has nothing to do with combat. Others pointed out the game revolves around a squad and that the objective of planting the spike is a giant portion of the competitive game mode.

Players compared it to other tactical FPS titles in the industry. One main argument was that in rival games like CS:GO your RWS “goes up drastically for planting or defusing.” Another point was that VALORANT’s an objective-based game, and your combat score should be impacted by planting and defusing the spike.

“Planting is half the game,” another player agreed.

The other side of the coin is it “takes four seconds to plant,” so they shouldn’t be missing out on many kills, to begin with.

Planting the spike is an incredibly important aspect of any VALORANT match, and if you’re in those clutch situations, planting the bomb can greatly impact whether you’ll even get the opportunity to change that combat score.

Despite the heavy discussion, the VALORANT fandom seems to remain divided. At least we can all agree no one wants to be the one planting the spike either way.
