PlayStation gamers and comic book fans alike have been waiting impatiently for news on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the sequel to 2018’s instant classic starring Marvel’s greatest superhero.
The release date for the game has been up in the air—just like Spidey himself—for quite some time, but a new leak may have revealed its window, and it’s enough to set every potential player’s Spidey Senses on tingle.
The leak comes from none other than Hollywood actor Tony Todd, who’s portraying classic Spider-Man villain Venom in the highly anticipated PS5 sequel. Todd let it slip on Twitter with reckless abandon that the game is apparently just a few months away.
“Looks like September!” Todd said in reply to a fan’s anticipation for the game. “Massive publicity coming in August. Commercials start dropping in August, so I’m told. Hold on to your … and hold breath [sic]! Gonna be necessary.”
Todd, famous for his role in the classic slasher film Candyman, is known for his dulcet voice. That voice may have just gotten him in some trouble with his bosses at Insomniac Games and PlayStation if the news is true.
His voice work as Venom can be heard very quickly towards the end of the original debut trailer for Spider-Man 2, which was revealed in Sept. 2021. Little has been shown or told about the game since then, so news must be on the way if Todd’s words ring true.
In any case, information about Spider-Man 2 and its release date should be coming sometime this year, likely around June when the games industry shows off what it’s been working on.
