Catch-up gear normally refers to gear designed for alts and players who come back to the game and don’t have the best-in-slot gear pieces. With catch-up gear, you can catch up with the curve and dive into the current content.

Each patch has a new catch-up gear in circulation, and here’s how you can get it Dragonflight Patch 10.2.

What level is catch-up gear in WoW Dragonflight Patch 10.2?

Here’s the thing with catch-up gear in Patch 10.2—it’s much easier to just visit the new zone and catch up naturally. In patch 10.1.5, there were Time Rift events that let you quickly gear up to iLvl 402. While you can still do that and get a full set of iLvl 428 gear, I highly recommend you just visit the Emerald Dream and start doing World Quests. Not only will this earn you the same gear, but you’ll also earn (even more) renown with the Dream Wardens which you’ll need in the upcoming months of the new patch.

Then again, if you just want to do more time rifts, you can still do them, and you’ll get the same gear in a very similar way to how catch-up worked in patch. 10.1.5.

Getting catch-up gear shouldn’t be hard at all. Players can buy catch-up gear with Dilated Time Pods, a currency that drops from the Time Rift events. These are the same as Dilated Time Capsules, which are no longer obtainable in the game. you need to exchange the currency with Shi Everbreeze in the Tyrhold Reservoir at the 51.0 56.6 coordinates.

When you first get your Dilated Time gear, it will be 428 item level (Adventurer Gear). Then, you can upgrade it up to level 450 at one of the gear-upgrading vendors, such as:

  • Corxian in Valdrakken at the 43, 37 coordinates
  • Cuzolth in Zaralek Cavern at the 56, 56 coordinates
  • Researcher Baneflare in Forbidden Reach at the 35,59 coordinates
  • Cuzloth (again) in the Emerald Dream at 49,62 coordinates

Veteran gear is also widely accessible. You can easily get these by doing weekly quests and defeating world bosses in the Emerald Dream. Unfortunately, these are weekly events so it may take a while to get a full set.

Have fun gearing up in Patch 10.2.
