TFT Set 8 NA Corrupted Cup: Standings, players, and format

Players seek to solidify invites to TFT Set Eight Mid-Set Finale.

The path to the Teamfight Tactics Set Eight World Championship in North America continued through the Corrupted Cup, showcasing four players earning a direct invite to the Monsters’ Attack! Mid-Set Finale.

Scheduled over the course of four days and two weekends, the Corrupted Cup featured the top-ranking TFT Set Eight players from the NA ladder snapshots and the top eight players from the Defender Cup. The top-ranked 32 players on the NA ladder were given a bye for the first two days of competition, starting their run on Feb. 18, joining the top 32 players who made the cut after days one and two. 

Players finishing in the top four at the TFT Corrupted Cup earned a direct invite to the NA MId-Set Finale, scheduled to run from March 3 to 5. All players also earned qualifier points, with the highest point earners from the Defender and Corrupted Cup making up the remaining 16 invites to the Mid-Set Finale.

A total of 128 players competed during the first two days of the NA Corrupted Cup, with only 32 advancing to the second half of the tournament. Six games were played daily, and lobbies were reseeded every two rounds.

The cutoff for the top 32 was 29 points, with Pitzy missing the cut due to tie-breakers. Veteran TFT tournament players who also missed the cut included, AMDE, Ramblinnn, Rainplosion, Sphinx, and ops appies.

Feb. 18 TFT Corrupted Cup standings

The NA Corrupted Cup continued with a total of 64 players, 32 from the previous weekend’s rounds and the top 32 from the ladder snapshots. Six games across eight lobbies were played with lobbies getting reseeded every two rounds. Players who finished in the top 12 during day three of the Corrupted Cup earned bonus points heading into the final day of competition.

Following three games played, Dishsoap, Liltop, BuzzyBoo, and BC Socks were sitting atop the leaderboard.

Following six games, only the top 32 TFT players advanced to the final day of the NA Corrupted Cup. Considered one of the best players in Set Eight, Dishsoap finished at the top of the standings, followed by BC Socks, BuzzyBoo, and sètsuko. BunnyMuffins, who started the day at the bottom of the standings, fought back for a top 32 seat. Veterans like C9 k3soju, TL Liquid Robin, Broccoli, Noster, and Prestivent didn’t make the day four cut.

Feb. 19 TFT Corrupted Cup standings

A total of 32 players competed in five games during day three with the top 16 advancing to game six and only the top eight competing in game seven. The top four players at the NA Corrupted Cup earned a direct invite to the TFT Set Eight Mid-Set Finale.

After three games played BuzzyBoo had separated themselves from the rest of the 32 players with 26 points, five points ahead of Gyalubaby and sètsuko with 21 points.

The top 16 players advanced to game six with 24 points for the day as the cutoff. Missing the cut due to tie-breakers was Robivankenob.

After starting off the day with two first-place finishes and one second-place, BuzzyBoo finished in eighth and seventh during games five and six while still making the top eight. The cutoff heading into game seven was 34 points. Missing the cut were veterans like TL Kurumx, Iniko, and Dishsoap.

Winning the TFT North America Corrupted Cup was sètsuko, who had placed in the top four during day three and five top-four finishes during day four. The win also earned sètsuko an invite to the Mid-Set Finale, along with Clear, BuzzyBoo, and Rereplay.
