The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) takes players back to the Stormblood expansion, and teams are already doing their best to progress as far as they can through the fight on day three. Teams have already exhausted six days of trying to figure out the fights and most of them have progressed to phase five. Some teams have progressed to phase six, and now one team has finished the Ultimate.

Ultimate duties are easily the hardest content in Final Fantasy XIV, which is why players are more likely to watch coordinated teams figure out the mechanics and try to complete it rather than dip their toes in themselves.

This time around the Race to World First is also doubling as a charity event. The Twitch channel Mogtalk is covering the race and also collecting donations for Extra Life, which is a fundraising program that benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Mogtalk showcases multiple teams that are trying to complete the fight along with live commentary about the fights and speculation about lore and future phases.

Where to watch the Race to World First for The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) in Final Fantasy XIV

There are several ways to watch the TOP Race to World First. The quickest and easiest way to see teams’ progress at a glance is to look at FF Logs. The home page will have a team featured and a link at the top of the page to see the top two currently live channels go head-to-head with progress, as well as show the rankings.

Teams will likely go for anywhere from eight to 12 hours doing as many pulls as they can to progress as far as they can. Players can find a list of all of the participating teams on the Race to World First page on FF Logs.

The Omega Protocol (Ultimate): live updates and leaderboard

Thursday, Feb. 2

Neverland shared their official boss clear video here. It shows the Ultimate fight is extremely long. It’s a 20-minute fight with six phases and a fast Enrage wipe at the end.

A few hours after their clear, Aether Group 3 were the second team to complete the fight. They also shared the fight’s footage here. The race is now officially over, and fans are waiting for Square Enix’s congratulations post.

Wednesday, Feb. 1

1:19am CT – Neverland have officially cleared the Omega Ultimate raid and won the race after 1,032 tries, according to FFLogs. The clear video has yet to be posted because two more clears are required beforehand. Meanwhile, four other teams have reached the fight’s last phase.

Monday, Jan. 30

10pm CT – Fans of the race are calling UNNAMED_’s World First illegitimate due to the use of third-party tools. A video and images were leaked of one of the players using a zoom hack to see more of the playing field. No other teams have achieved a clear yet.

4pm CT – UNNAMED_ have popped up in the logs and have now completed the race. There are no logged pulls for them at the moment, so fans have no idea how many times they pulled it or when they progressed through phases, but the race is now over and the Japanese team have claimed the title of World First.

12:23pm CT – Neverland have reached phase six of the fight. This is surprising to many who assumed phase five was the last of the duty. The logs show they’ve just cleared it, and now fans are back to speculating just how many phases there will be. Kindred are now the closest behind them at 43.2 percent HP remaining on phase five, so until someone streaming the fight reaches phase six, fans will have to wait to see what it is.

10:25am CT – There seems to be some meaningful progress being made, and although there might be another day or two of prog before a clear is seen, numbers are starting to drop as teams progress through phase five. Neverland has made some progress since the last update and now sits at 40.7 percent HP remaining, with Otter Nuts right behind them at 46.4 percent.

1am CT – Neverland now have 44.1 percent HP remaining on the boss in the last phase. They’ve made 847 pulls, which means they’ve been working on clearing the fight from 70 to 110 hours since it released, six days ago.

This team aside, many others have reached the Dynamis phase over the weekend, and are now stuck between 62.3 and 83.9 percent HP remaining.

Saturday, Jan. 28

11am CT – Progress remains slow. More teams have reached the fifth phase, but all are still stuck at around 84 percent HP. Only Neverland have surpassed that point, bringing Omega to 72 percent HP.

Friday, Jan. 27

6:40pm CT – The leaderboard has been shaken a little bit, but no real progress has been made on phase five yet by any team. Lali-Ho! still remain in first place with 84.1 percent. Now it’s a fight to get the boss down past that number, but no one has managed to do it all day. Some more teams have moved into the fifth phase since the last update, though.

10:10am CT – Lali-Ho! have now taken first place, dethroning Otter Nuts from their first-place spot. They’ve climbed the ranks quickly since they were waffling in and out of the top 20 the entire race.

Fans are starting to catch on that some of these teams are using the leaked video to make a significant amount of progress in a short amount of time. It’s also possible that Lali-Ho! and other teams are holding their logs until they clear certain mechanics. Updates are coming in at a slower pace toward the end of the phase.

8am CT – NO CCHH are the third party to reach the fifth phase of Omega, but otherwise, not much progress has been made in top teams. They still struggle to reach the final phase due to the multiple DPS checks in previous parts of the fight. Meanwhile, more teams have progressed through the Blue Screen phase.

3am CT – It appears a video of Omega’s fifth phase mechanics and cutscene has leaked online. Otter Nuts have been updating their strategy in consequence.

1am CT – Otter Nuts have finally completed Omega’s fourth phase and took first place in the race. The “Blue Screen” attack is a tight DPS check that requires every DPS alive to bring him down to 20 percent HP before he casts it. Neverland aside, they’re the only team having reached that phase. Meanwhile, more groups have entered the fourth phase.

The fifth phase isn’t a checkpoint, which means players must still complete every previous phase before reaching it again, considerably slowing down progress.

Thursday, Jan. 26

8:14pm CT – Nothing much has changed by way of phase progression, but teams are beginning to chip away at phase four’s mechanics. Neverland haven’t made much progress at all, but it’s likely that they are resting for the night or will take a break soon. Otter Nuts still stays in second place and have made some significant progress on phase four, but no one has managed to get the boss under 20 percent so far.

3:45pm CT – Neverland’s popped back up and are now working on phase five of the fight. None of the other teams have been able to make much of any progress on phase four, so fans are waiting with bated breath to see if any of the other teams streaming their progress will make it there by the end of the day.

11:07am CT – Not much progress has been made by any of the teams in phase four. Neverland’s FF Logs profile is now private, so fans are scratching their heads wondering where they are in the fight. Last they left off, they were on 20 percent HP remaining. Some are speculating that they pulled the logs because they figured out the way to get past the Blue Screen.

Otter Nuts still sits on top with 47.7 percent remaining on the boss, but no one has been able to get past the fourth phase, which is now dubbed the “Blue Screen” phase. Teams will have to figure out what they’ve been missing to progress further in the fight, but no one has cracked the code yet.

4am CT – Otter Nuts are now stuck in Omega’s fourth phase. They got wiped by a “Blue Screen” attack that dealt the maximum number of damage to them.

It appears an objective or certain requirements must be met for players to survive that attack, and no team has figured it out yet. It looks similar to the last Ultimate raid’s time-loop that gave players a hard time.

1am CT – Three groups have reached the fourth phase: Neverland, Otter Nuts, and Kindred. Neverland have kept their large advantage with only 29.8 percent HP remaining on the boss.

Apparently, the fourth phase doesn’t change the boss appearance or the battlefield—his HP bar simply regenerates back to 100 percent. He’ll be less tanky, which is why Neverland progressed fast through the 70 first percent, but still deals a lot of deadly attacks. Here’s a clip of the phase transition from Otter Nuts.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

4pm CT – Although we know Neverland got to phase four, we’re not sure what it is since they’re not streaming it. The closest behind them right now is Alice in Abyssos, who has phase three down to less than 20 percent. It’s likely that we won’t know what phase four is until one of the other teams gets there.

11:50am CT – The theme of this Ultimate is still Neverland staying far ahead of everyone. They’ll likely hit phase four at some point this afternoon. Meanwhile, NO CCHH have popped up right behind them at 64.3 percent. The top 20 list has been fluctuating all morning, and it will likely continue to fluctuate since there are still no checkpoints in the fight, and each team needs to get all of the previous mechanics perfectly before they can progress and see the next phases.

7am CT – Neverland have started progressing again and the third phase now requires only 11 more percent damage to be completed. Since then, only two more teams have progressed through the third phase (Otter Nuts and Kindred, from 99 to 74 percent). Since the fight resets entirely with every wipe, progress remains slow for participating teams.

1:30am CT – Neverland keeps their large advance over all other top 20 teams on phase three’s progress, even though the team is taking a break, remaining at the same progress percentage. Other teams started playing a few hours ago and already caught up to the top 20 teams—the furthest ones are still blocked at the beginning of that phase, though.

Tuesday, Jan. 24

10pm CT – Besides Neverland, teams aren’t making much progress on phase three. Neverland are down to 34.8 percent on phase three, and the next team behind them are trailing at 95.2 percent. Pokemon #316 has joined them in phase three, and several teams that have remained in the top 20 are still hard-stuck in phase two.

6:50pm CT – Neverland, Kindred, Kinda Awk, and Alice in Abyssos have all hit phase three and are now working their way toward the next phase. So far, Neverland are the only team that have made it past the 90 percent mark while the trailing three teams have barely scratched the boss.

2:30pm CT – Neverland, Kindred, and Kinda Awk are getting close to clearing phase two. Neverland have been stuck on 0.01 for several hours, but they aren’t streaming their progress, so it is difficult to see what they are stuck on. Meanwhile, Kindred is hot on their heels with only three percent left in the second phase.

11am CT – EU teams are working on pulling more and getting farther before they call it a day and NA teams are beginning to take their turns with the Ultimate. Neverland, an EU team, are still currently on the top of the leaderboard with their best pull putting them at 34.8 percent on phase two. Kindred are currently right behind them with a best of 54.6 percent on phase two. Since they’re an NA team, they’re likely just getting started for the day.

Phases:

  • Phase one: Omega
  • Phase two: Omega – M/F
  • Phase three: Omega Reconfigured
  • Phase four: Blue Screen
  • Phase five: Run: Dynamis
  • Phase six: Alpha Omega
