Fnatic has finalized its roster for the upcoming 2018 EU LCS Spring Split by making a single change to last year’s lineup.
Former Unicorns of Love support Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov has joined Fnatic’s starting roster. Existing support player Jesse “Jesiz” Le has been moved to a substitute position until his long term future is being resolved, according to Fnatic’s announcement.
ADC Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, who signed a three-year contract with the organization, top laner Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, jungler Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen, and mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther will all return to the organization next year as members of the starting roster.
Hylissang had spent the entirety of his professional career as a part of Unicorns of Love before the move, joining the organization in Jan. 2014. During his time on UOL, Hylissang was unable to help Unicorns of Love attend a World Championship, failing to get through the EU LCS Regional Finals three years in a row.
Hylissang did achieve domestic success with the team however. He helped the team to make its first EU LCS finals appearance last year in the Spring Split, where the team lost to G2 Esports. Unicorns of Love’s only major championship victory during Hylissang’s time on the team came from at IEM Oakland in Nov 2016.
Fnatic will be hoping to use Hylissang’s experience to boost the organization’s chances of dethroning G2 Esports this year, and winning its first EU LCS title in over two years. The team attended the World Championship this year as the third seeded team from the EU LCS, making it as far as the quarterfinals where the team lost to LPL team Royal Never Give Up.
The EU LCS Spring Split beings on Jan. 19, where Fnatic hope to get its season off to a good start.
