Galactus is a six-Cost card with five Power. Its effect reads “On Reveal: If you’re winning this location and this is your only card here, destroy all other locations.

It is available in series five, along with the rarest cards in the game, which can be accessed from collection level 486 or above. It can also appear in the Marvel Snap Token Shop.

Galactus’ main goal is to dispute one location but destroy all others. While it can be very difficult to win a game just by playing Galactus on the final turn, it’s through synergy with other cards that the best Galactus decks can gain many cubes at once. Since its effect only works if Galactus is the only card on your side of that location, good planning is needed before using it.

A nerf to Galactus in the Sept. 28 OTA update reduced its Power by two, but it’s still an incredibly impactful card.

Strategy for Galactus in Marvel Snap

The best way to use Galactus is to surprise the opponent by destroying locations where they have invested a lot of Power, then counter them with powerful combos in the final turns.

To achieve this goal, cards that grant more Energy are needed in order to play Galactus before the final turn, giving you time to accumulate enough Power to defeat the opponent.

While it can be tempting to always destroy the opponent’s card-filled locations, it’s important to keep in mind that if a location already has four cards and Galactus only leaves it active in the final round, the opponent won’t be able to play any cards, making it easier to surpass the opponent’s Power total.

It may be necessary to include cards that can help clear the board of opposing threats, like Debrii, which adds Rocks, and the Central Park location, which adds Squirrels. Dealing with these unwanted cards allows for the Galactus strategy to remain viable.

Galactus Ramp

The best and most consistent deck where Galactus can be used in the current meta is in a Galactus Ramp strategy. Here, your goal is to still play Galactus to destroy the other two locations. The difference from the past Galactus decks, however, is the presence of other win condition cards, since pulling off the devourer of worlds’ ability is more challenging than before.

Professor X is there for lockdown, while Orka can be a standalone card in a single location that can have massive Power. Of course, Galactus’ staple card Hobgoblin is there to potentially disrupt the opponent’s setup at one location, while Alioth can be a guaranteed game-winner if you’ll have priority on the turn you play it.

Ms. Marvel’s added Power boost can help you activate Galactus’ ability. As for Shang-Chi, you can use its destruction ability on the offensive. Wave, Psylocke, and Electro help you fulfill the ramp strategy by giving you more tools to play your high-Cost cards as early as possible.

Cap off the deck with Nico Minoru, which can be a great source of toolbox spells that are useful for different scenarios, and the literally unstoppable Jeff the Baby Land Shark.

Tip:

When playing Electro or Psylocke on turn three, Hobgoblin is a great follow-up play if you aim to activate Galactus. Professor X, on the other hand, is also another good turn four play if there is a suitable location to lock down.

Galactus Junk

Another powerful deck that includes Galactus in the current meta is the Junk deck. Marvel Snap’s Junk strategy, which focuses on adding unnecessary units to your opponent’s side of the board, is a good way to pull off Galactus’ effect. It’s also another win condition you can resort to if you aren’t able to activate Galactus’ location-destroying ability.

Some of the cards that can give Junk units to your opponents are Viper, Debrii, and Annihilus. Sentry’s negative-10-Power Void can be a great target to transfer to your opponent’s side of a location, as well as The Hood. As for Black Widow, its created card, Widow’s Bite, is an annoying unit that your opponent needs to play before they can draw cards from their deck.

Carnage and Shadow King are there in case you need to get rid of the Junk cards on your side of the locations, as well as to manipulate the Power of cards for both players. Green Goblin, on the other hand, is a cheaper version of Hobgoblin, but can also transfer to your opponent’s side. Lastly, finish the deck with Galactus staples Shang-Chi and Alioth for control purposes.

Tip:

Play Sentry if you have either Annihilus or Viper in your hand to maximize the negative Power of Void. Transferring it to your opponent’s side of a location can be converted to additional Power for your side.

How to counter Galactus decks in Marvel Snap

The most direct way to counter a Galactus deck is to make him unable to use his ability. For Galactus to destroy the other locations, he needs to be the only card on the opponent’s side of the board, so cards that interact with the opponent’s board are among the best options.

Debrii is a rock-solid option usually included in Patriot decks that can give a Galactus deck a hard time. Just be sure to play it at a location where the opponent already has a card.

Another interesting strategy includes Viper to send a card with negative Power to the opponent at a location they’re keeping empty, like The Hood. Not only does this make the opponent lose Power, it also renders a location unusable for Galactus.

Green Goblin is another effective card that has synergy with Galactus, but it’s also great at countering him, since it can normally be played a turn earlier. Occupying the location where Galactus would be played can end the opponent’s strategy.

Cosmo is another common answer in most decks that prevents Galactus’ effect from being activated, causing the opponent to lose a lot of value when adding a five-Cost card with only three Power on the board.

The best way for all these strategies to work is to gain priority in the early turns. This means cards like Mister Fantastic can help indirectly.

These are the best Galactus decks in the current Marvel Snap meta. Activating the devourer of worlds’ effect is harder than it used to be, but the above strategies can help you bring out the full potential of the baddest card in Marvel Snap.
