The full suite of weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is only growing with time after its release, but there are already plenty of awesome tools for gamers to try out in multiplayer lobbies.
The Lachmann-556 is one of these guns. While its SMG little brother the Lachmann Sub gets more attention, and deservedly so, the 556 is a solid assault rifle to level up and use for a decent variety of available playstyles and loadouts.
“The Lachmann-556 is the keystone in the Lachmann Meer arsenal,” the assault rifle’s description in MW2 reads. “An adaptive 5.56 weapon system that bridges the gap between submachine guns and full-powered rifles.”
After several updates throughout the year of MW2, the Lachmann-556 has become one of the more favored assault rifles in all of the game, mainly thanks to its almost complete lack of recoil with certain builds.

While it pales in comparison to the M4 and TAQ-56, the Lachmann-556 is a viable option for assault rifle players in MW2. The only area the 556 really outshines the M4 in is its range, but attachments can help even the playing field.
The 556 boasts the fact it’s something of an AR/SMG hybrid, but it also has less mobility and handling than the M4. These attachments are more for the AR-style player, though, buffing its damage, range, accuracy, and recoil control while sacrificing more mobility and handling. This is a really strong loadout to use in Warzone 2 battle royale, as well.

Assault rifle players will want to slow down their pace, aim at sightlines, and ease their way into engagements to use the 556’s stopping power and accuracy at range.

This alternative setup for the Lachmann-556 leans even further into the assault rifle archetype. It’s a bit slower and more cumbersome, but it shoots like a laser beam with this set of attachments and the 60 Round Mag will keep you shooting at more enemies for longer periods to boot.
