Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle of Destiny 2‘s “PvP-verse,” as Bungie called the Crucible. This cutthroat mode is only available on weekends and it will feature the same map each week, giving players plenty of time to develop their favorite strategies. Going Flawless in Trials is an experience reserved for some of the best guardians in the system, and it comes with rewards to match.
To reach the Lighthouse, players need seven wins without losing a single match (or with one loss, if players picked the Passage of Mercy). Doing so will grant players an Adept version of one of the Trials weapons (which rotates each week) and Ascendant Shards, and the Lighthouse chest has a chance of dropping a sparrow and Ghost as well.
Even players who don’t go Flawless can get Trials-exclusive weapons and armor from Saint-14—who has his own reward track—and from Trials Engrams, which can drop from match completions and are guaranteed to drop every rank-up with Saint.
Unlike other Crucible modes, Trials of Osiris isn’t available all the time. Trials rotates in every Friday reset (5pm UTC/11am CT when Daylight Savings isn’t on) and rotates out every Tuesday, matching the schedule of Xûr, the Nine’s intergalactic peddler. This differs from Iron Banner, for instance, which only stays available for one week at a time and has been going on twice each season since Lord Saladin’s rework.
Though Trials is available almost every Friday, some in-game events may also shift its availability. Trials of Osiris will never be on rotation in the first week of a season or during Iron Banner weeks, for instance, and won’t be available during raid launches either. With that in mind, here’s when players can expect the next Trials of Osiris.
When does Trials of Osiris start in Destiny 2?
Season 19 is giving players a chance to dive into Trials of Osiris almost as soon as the season begins. Trials of Osiris will return on Dec. 16, during the second week of the season. It’s good news for PvP-oriented players, who can dive into the activity soon. It’s also unlike Season of Plunder, which only had Trials of Osiris on week four due to its schedule.
When Trials of Osiris returns, players can also start trying to get some loot of their own, including the new Exalted Truth hand cannon and the Unwavering Duty machine gun. If you missed Aisha’s Embrace or Reed’s Regret, though, they were removed from the loot pool in season 19. Whistler’s Whim (bow), Forgiveness (sidearm), Burden of Guilt (fusion rifle), and The Inquisitor (shotgun) will stay in the loot pool for the next months.
Players can expect Trials of Osiris for most of season 19 except when Iron Banner is on. The season 19 dungeon won’t affect the return of Trials since it launches in the first week of the season when Trials is normally disabled anyway. The Dawning doesn’t interfere with Trials’ schedule either—in fact, knowing Eva Levante is in town means Lord Saladin won’t be in the Tower, so players can expect Trials of Osiris to take place during the holiday-themed event barring any exceptional circumstances.
Bungie hasn’t outlined the schedule for Iron Banner in season 19, with more information “in an upcoming TWAB,” according to an official tweet. Players should keep an eye out for Iron Banner information if they want to participate in Lord Saladin’s festivities or just want to know when Saint-14 will be resting.
