Six new players have been signed to the Shanghai Dragons roster, bringing the squad from three players to nine.
The six new players were announced on Twitter late last night. “Please give your warmest welcome to the following for joining the Shanghai Dragons,” the team wrote before listing the new names. From KongDoo Panthera, DPS player Jin “Youngjin” Yong-jin, flex DPS Yang “DDing” Jin-hyeok, and supports Son “CoMa” Kyeong-Woo, Yang “Luffy” Seong-hyeon have been added to the roster. Former Toronto Esports and Lunatic-Hai player Cho “GuardiaN” Joon-hwan and former Lucky Future Zenith dps Bae “diem” Min-seong were also announced this morning.

They’ll join Lu “Diya” Weida, Kim “Geguri” Se-yeon, and Lee “Fearless” Eui-seok as the Shanghai Dragons. The new additions bring the squad past the minimum eight players required to be signed by Dec. 1. Three spots remain, but the organization is not required to fill them.
The Shanghai organization underwent a massive overhaul after finishing the Overwatch League’s first season without a single win. In September, the organization cut eight out of its 11 inaugural season players, leaving only Diya, Geguri, and Fearless. It wasn’t a surprising decision. The Overwatch League roster clearly struggled to keep up in the first season, with communication problems making the team’s viability even worse.
Shanghai’s new roster will debut on or shortly after the season two kick-off on Feb. 14. The Overwatch League has swelled from 12 teams to 20 for the 2019 season, and with a strong selection of players from the South Korea scene (and Diya) the roster should have an easier time nabbing a win next year.
