Anyone who thought that the cube’s wrath came to an end when the fifth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale wrapped up last week was sadly mistaken.
The cube is now embedded in the bottom of the Loot Lake island, and it’s seemingly empowering the island to float around the map. Loot Lake island started moving yesterday, and now it looks like it’s headed toward each of the “corrupted areas” left in the wake of cubemania.

After the floating island began moving, Twitter users theorized that it’d go to the spots where the cube previously burned runes in the ground. And it seems like they could be right, since the island is now floating above the spot where the seventh rune was created near Pleasant Park.
When the floating island reached this corrupted area, it changed the landscape of the location. There are now volcanic pits in the ground that can launch you into the air, and the spot with the actual rune symbol is also floating below Loot Lake island. And the cube has reportedly started to expand into underground sections of the island, according to @FortniteBR.
Although fans believe the island could be heading to the sixth rune near Lazy Links next, that’s not yet confirmed. Some players have seen a glitch in-game that causes the island to appear on their map near Salty Springs, so it’s possible that it could also be headed there soon.
Regardless of where the island moves next, you know Fortnite fans will be patiently waiting for whatever happens.
