Each Call of Duty season comes bundled with huge content patches. These patches are essential to keeping the existing player base engaged with their favorite game while attracting many returning or new players to the franchise.
The season system embraced its final form with the release of Modern Warfare and Warzone. It was unclear what would happen to the season count with the release of new CoD games, but Black Ops Cold War answered that question by resetting the season count to one.
That trend continued in Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3, and now Black Ops 6 and beyond looks to continue even further with subsequent Call of Duty releases over the next few years. Activision has found a formula that works when it comes to making some cash and pumping out content from its numerous talented development studios.

Black Ops 6 season one start date
The final season of MW3, season six, will come to a close when BO6’s first season kicks off on Nov. 14. Seasons will follow every two months, with a midseason update happening at the mid point of each season also adding new content.
MW3 ended up with six seasons of content, and will go down as one of the one of the most well-supported games when it comes to post-launch, live service additions. Weekly challenges, Aftermarket Parts, and seasonal updates along with several collaborations kept players coming back for more throughout 2024.
BO6 does not have weekly challenges or Aftermarket Parts like MW3, unfortunately. But with more Zombies content than MWZ ever had most likely on the way, there should be plenty of weapons, maps, operators, Zombies experiences, cosmetics, collaborations for store bundles, and a slew of Warzone updates (including the return of Verdansk) to come throughout 2025.
With Treyarch at the helm and studios like Raven help support BO6’s post-launch content, you can bet there will be plenty of stuff for players to come back for.
