Gilius explains why he’s not playing for Vitality

A mixture of problems were behind Kikis entering the roster.

At the end of July, Team Vitality signed EU LCS veteran Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek as a substitute jungler for its professional League of Legends team.

Although it originally looked like he was joining the team as a substitute, Kikis soon replaced Vitality’s jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir in the starting roster on July 27. After this move, Kikis remained unbeaten for his opening four games until Vitality lost against Schalke on Aug. 10.

Since Gilius’ sudden drop from the starting lineup, he’s chosen to remain pretty quiet about the whole situation—until now, that is.

In an announcement on Twitter, Gilius went in-depth behind why he was benched, as well as why Kikis was brought on board in the first place.

“I had some issues within the team,” Gilius said. “I saw the game in a different way and there were many disagreements and we decided to get in Kikis and thought it could help us getting a better grasp of the game and increasing our value of practice.”

Gilius went on to explain that scrim results were a lot better when Kikis played and that he had no issue with being replaced in the starting lineup. “I realized that Kikis fits better into the team (because I have many disagreements with some players about how to play the game).” Gilius said. “I could have fought for the starting spot but I did not feel like it’s right because Kikis fit in so well.”

After the disagreements, Gilius said that he was given permission to seek offers from other teams since he felt there was “no coming back.” But after talking to one top team that was interested in him, Vitality and the mystery organization couldn’t come to an agreement for his transfer.

Now that he’s seemingly without a team, Gilius plans to start streaming full-time and has given no indication on whether he will be joining another pro squad in the future.

Regardless of what the future holds, however, it looks like Gilius and Vitality’s time together has come to an end.
