Virtus Pro traded in its iconic colors yesterday, and the Counter-Strike community has been having a field day with memes ever since.
The organization officially changed its brand colors from orange to green and purple so that it can match their newest partner, MegaFon, a telecom company based in Russia. The color change is taking effect across all of VP’s esports games, starting at Dota 2’s The International 2018 event later this month.
The Twitter video revealing the change seems to be a joke in itself, so it’s good to see that VP was self-aware of the impending community response. SK Gaming reacted to one VP tweet with a matching picture of Starscream from the Transformers universe. One fan also replied with a purple and green “feelsbadman” pepe on the VP logo, replacing the iconic bear.

The best meme out of them all was from Natus Vincere—a long-time CS:GO competitor. Na’Vi posted a Twitter video displaying itself and other organizations, specifically those with orange and yellow color schemes, paying respect to VP’s logo. The social media team at Ninjas in Pyjamas also humored Na’Vi’s memorial video.
The color change has also been trending on Reddit’s /r/GlobalOffensive the past two days as well. One Reddit user poked fun at the colorblind-looking scheme by remaking it into an ice bear meme. Another user remade other CS:GO organizations‘ logos to have the same purple and green style. An especially clever user made the logo resemble The Joker from the D.C. comic book universe.
One tweet even depicted the team’s AWPer, Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski, as The Hulk from the Marvel comic book universe. PashaBiceps acknowledged it and also tweeted a green Mercedes-Benz with the caption, “New colors and me inside [laughing emoji].”
Despite the ongoing fanfare of memes directed at VP, the color change will only last until 2019. Thankfully for them, the OG orange will make its return next year.
