Halo 5: The Future of the Xbox One?

Now that Activision has officially announced that they will be releasing all of their DLC on the PS4 weeks before the Xbox One, it's safe to say competitive CoD will be switching over to the Sony ecosystem.

Now that Activision has officially announced that they will be releasing all of their DLC on the PS4 weeks before the Xbox One, it’s safe to say competitive CoD will be switching over to the Sony ecosystem. This means that Halo will now have an even bigger competitive audience and possibly even more financial support from Microsoft. I have already heard on Twitter that many former CoD players who were planning on staying in CoD are now going make the switch to Halo 5 once it releases.

For the past 4 years Call of Duty has had the largest population of players on Xbox Live. With competitive CoD switching to the PS4, Halo now has a better chance to once again be the most popular game on its native platform.

Of course, this won’t come easy and after MCC’s terrible launch many fans are pretty doubtful that Halo 5 will have a good launch. In fact, some Halo fans have even made protest on YouTube and Twitter to not pre-order Halo 5 or get the game until after launch. If people were to actually do this, the initial sales for Halo 5 would be very disappointing. Most likely this won’t happen since its Halo and everybody wants 343 to make a good game and bring back Halo’s past glory.

Now that Halo 5 has a chance to be Microsoft’s most popular game this year, it would make sense to see Microsoft show the same support for the game like they did for the past three Call of Duty’s. If they do, this would mean that we will not only see events being hosted by 343, Iron Gaming, ESL ,and PGL like in this season, we will also be seeing events like the Call of Duty World Championship being brought into Halo. This would be kind of like the Halo 4 Global Championship but in a 4v4 setting and possibly even more sponsors and organizations coming into Halo. For the past two ESL Halo seasons, we have seen many multi-platform organizations such as Evil Geniuses, Cloud 9, CLG and Denial eSports come on board and all of them have had nothing but good things to say about our community. This shows how much our community has changed over the years after being dropped by MLG. We are slowly learning how to adapt into this new age of eSports by releasing more content to the fans and overall being more active in the community than we ever were. Now that Halo 5 is expected to have a relatively large population of gamers in the beginning, I expect that we will be making even more content and be more active in the community.

Here are some CoD players saying they’re moving over to Halo:

We as Halo fans have waited over 4 years for this opportunity to come, to once again be the most populated game on the Xbox and now that even more gamers are going to be switching over to Halo 5. As a community we need to capitalize on this.

What do you think about Halo 5 having the opportunity to be the best game on the Xbox One this year? Do you think 343 can capitalize on this opportunity? Let us know in the comments below.
