North American Overwatch teams are starved for tournaments no longer. A new competition is now lurking among the weekly and monthly tournaments North American Overwatch has seen so far—the Rivalcade Overwatch Rumble.
Sure, the North American Overwatch scene is still lacking an event with the prestige of South Korea’s OGN Overwatch APEX, but with the Overwatch League looming, it kind of makes sense. Until then, the best of the best in North American Overwatch will fight it out in online tournaments like the Overwatch Rumble.
Invited teams for the Overwatch Rumble include Team EnVyUs, Rogue, Immortals, LG Evil, Cloud9, Selfless, Splyce, and compLexity.
The eight qualifying teams will be determined in a series taking place April 18. There, teams will participate in a single-elimination bracket. Group play begins April 22, splitting the 16 teams into four groups of four. Groups will be played in a round robin format with best-of-three series. The top two teams from each group will move on to the double elimination bracket on April 23.
Overwatch Rumble’s double elimination bracket will continue with best-of-three series until the grand finals, which will be a best-of-five series.
Six thousand dollars are on the line for first place, with $3,000 available for the second place team and $1,000 for third. With EnVyUs and Cloud9 back from Korea, it’s going to be a tough battle for the top slots.
