If you’ve ever tried to stream on Twitch, you might have been pointed toward the Open Broadcaster Software as the best program to stream gameplay with. Many streamers use OBS as their primary tool for streaming, but several big-time content creators have run into an issue.
Popular streamer and Overwatch pro Félix “xQc” Lengyel asked his fellow streamers if any of them have run into a bug with OBS that causes the broadcast to have bitrate problems with 100-percent frame loss. The only solution that he’s found is to completely restart his stream, which is never the best answer for a streamer who wants to keep their viewers.
In response, multiple streamers came forward with the same problems as xQc, including League of Legends streamer Hammoudi “Yassuo” Abdalrhman, Overwatch streamer Fareeha, and variety streamer Esfand. They didn’t really have any solutions, though, and none of them had internet problems either.
Former Houston Outlaws player Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson said that the problems might stem from the Texan Twitch servers because he switched to the West Twitch servers and his stream worked fine with no frame loss or bitrate problems.
There hasn’t been an official response from Twitch, but since these problems are affecting multiple large channels, it would be in the platform’s best interest to fix up the possible servers issues that have been plaguing its streamers over the past few weeks.
