Marvel Rivals’ official release is just over two months away, giving NetEase Games ample time to drum up hype for the hero shooter. And that’s exactly what happened this weekend.

Yesterday, Psylocke was revealed as part of an interactive experience on the game’s official Discord. Users on the server were prompted with multiple choice questions as part of a quiz, and once all the questions were answered correctly, a short video was sent.

The short video, seen below, shows Psylocke as she will appear in Marvel Rivals. Nothing else is known about the character just yet, although many are guessing she’ll be a Duelist and assuming she’ll be available when the game launches in December.

Given the clues and Psylocke’s unique appearance, though, it’s now known that this will be a different take on the character than players may know or be used to from past appearances. The Marvel Rivals variant of Psylocke is inspired by a recent comic run called Demon Days: X-Men.

The short 2021 comic featured Psylocke in feudal-era Japan, where she was “a wandering swordswoman with a psychic blade” known as Sai. Her base appearance illustrates that design, also inspired by the comic and how she was drawn by artist Peach Momoko.

Psylocke will join a roster full of exciting Marvel heroes and villains such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Iron Man, Venom, Scarlet Witch, Hulk, The Punisher, and many more, with even more still to come over time. And the best part is that all current and future heroes are free to play.

Marvel Rivals ran multiple successful play tests in 2024, but the wait is now on for the game’s full release, which is scheduled for Dec. 6 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
