A new powerhouse Call of Duty League roster is reportedly being explored in the ongoing offseason—and this squad would immediately have the potential to lift trophies if it becomes a reality.
HyDra, Scrap, Envoy, and Ghosty are “exploring” the idea of teaming together, according to a Twitter/X post today by CoD esports stats site Breaking Point. This potential lineup could reportedly be a targeted signing for the Los Angeles Thieves, but there are several caveats to the minor details we have on this situation so far.
Breaking Point’s post said the financial aspect of constructing this specific roster would be “challenging” and “require multiple buyouts,” thus “making this deal less likely.” The budgetary aspect of this reported superteam also doesn’t seem to align with 100 Thieves’ approach to roster building from last season when the org moved on from its 2022 world championship-winning lineup after saying it lost $2.5 million on its CoD program that year. And other figures in the CDL community have already echoed this sentiment.
“The team that spent no money and got top 4 are now going to spend all the money after they didn’t re-sign their world championship core? Shoutout Nadeshot subscribers,” former CoD pro and current CDL commentator MerK said. “There’s a lot of additional context around this whole situation. It’s certainly possible… but requires a fair amount of maneuvering from multiple parties,” Dexerto reporter Jacob Hale added.
On paper, the roster of HyDra, Scrap, Envoy, and Ghosty would definitely have a ton of talent and the potential to win multiple titles in Black Ops 6. In what has been a relatively quiet rostermania period so far since the end of the 2024 CDL season, though, this might not be much more than wishful thinking at this point.
