How to spawn Lurker of the Deeps in WoW The War Within

To get Ol’ Mole Rufus in The War Within, you need to pull five levers across The Ringing Deeps simultaneously to summon a rare elite called Lurker of the Deeps—but we recommend being level 75 or higher to farm Ol’ Mole Rufus.

Ol’ Mole Rufus isn’t a level-locked mount—some players have reported that they managed to snag it on fresh level 70s in community forums—but it can make it easier to be 75 at a minimum, especially if you’re in a smaller group, as Lurker of the Deeps is level 80.

Head to The Ringing Deeps from Dornogal and find a group hoping to farm the mount. The first Inconspicuous Lever is near the Hallowfall Gate, on cart tracks with a handful of minecarts nearby.

The second lever is close to the first, on a crumbling platform with cart tracks, further out from the Hallowfall Gate.

The locations for these levers do not change. They can despawn, though, so check they’re all up before attempting this mount. The respawn timer is allegedly around half an hour to an hour, based on community reports.

Lever three is in the Lost Mines, further down from lever two, and sat between two branching cart rails on a platform.

The levers are hard to see from a distance but have a glowing outline and name pop-up when you mouse over them.

Lever four is much further into The Ringing Deeps, on a platform near Shadowvein Point. If you have the flight path unlocked, it’s north east of this.

Lever five is at the back of the zone, tucked up against a gate with two minecarts near it. There are lots of mobs in this zone, which is another reason being roughly level 75 is a bonus.

Fly past Opportunity Point until the game says Abyssal Excavation to find this lever.

That’s all the levers for the Lurker of the Deeps summon. If you don’t hit them all within 10 seconds or less of each other, the summon will not work, so group up and find a way to sync your lever times with one another.

It can be helpful to use a 10-second ready check to get everyone to time their lever pulls without needing to be on a call. Make sure you have one person at each lever location.

When your party pulls all five levers within 10 seconds of each other, a notification pops up in the chat mentioning that something is stirring in the nearby lake. This means that you now have a minute to get to the location shown above, near Opportunity Point.

This is why we left the Abyssal Excavation lever until last—it’s the shortest distance from the pond near Opportunity Point where the Lurker of the Deeps pops up.

From here, it’s a case of defeating Lurker of the Deeps to get the mount. This level 80 rare elite hits hard but doesn’t have many overwhelming abilities, using both Frost and Physical attacks. It has a knock-back, so mind your positioning and avoid flying into nearby mobs.

The Ol’ Mole Rufus mount is not a guaranteed drop so you may not see it during your first few attempts. The drop rate is reportedly around five percent, so park some alts in the zone and return the next day if it doesn’t show up.

When it does drop, the item to look out for is called the Regurgitated Mole Reins. Delightful.
