Dynamax Pokémon have made their way to Pokémon Go, a long-awaited feature by mobile game players. With Dynamax Pokémon here, you will be introduced to a new type of Pokémon to catch, and now you need to find ways to catch Dynamax Pokémon regularly.
There are unique ways you can encounter Dynamax Pokémon, and you can’t use preexisting Pokémon from your collection. Instead, these Pokémon need to be able to unlock their Dynamax form, which means they need to come from a particular location. Here’s what you need to know about where to get Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Where to get Dynamax Pokemon in Pokemon Go
For anyone who wants to receive Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go, the first way these Pokémon become available is by completing the To The Max Special Research. This Special Research came out when Power Spots began to appear in the game, which is where Dynamax Pokémon will begin to spawn and regularly appear.
After you complete the To The Max Special Research, you receive a Dynamax Pokémon. You can then use this Pokémon at Power Spots to face off against other Dynamax Pokémon. If you defeat these Pokémon in Pokémon Go, there’s a chance you can catch a Dynamax Pokémon at the end of the battle, similar to beating a Pokémon at a raid. These Pokémon should have the power to unlock their Dynamax form, which can be used in other Power Spots and Dynamax Battles.
The only way to catch other Dynamax Pokémon is to use Dynamax Pokémon, facing off against them with other players at Power Spots. If you want to add more Dynamax Pokémon to your collection, power up the ones you have and give them more strength. You will need to use them to face off against the stronger Dynamax Pokémon that are expected to arrive in future Pokémon Go events.
You might catch a Charmander that can Dynamax, but it can become stronger and evolve into a Charizard. Evolving it does not remove its ability to Dynamax, so you’re encouraged to power up any Dynamax Pokémon you catch in Pokémon Go as if it were a regular Pokémon, preparing them for the tougher battles that should make their way to Power Up spots. You’ll also want to regularly visit these locations to receive more Max Particles, which you need to level up a Dynamax Pokémon’s Max Moves and enter Dynamax Battles.
